Eastern European knitting cast-on.

Did not find any video demonstrating how to cast on to get the front and back loop in the correct position for EEK. Differs from western knitting in how you pick the yarn up. I've seen many different techniques but I believe this is the most efficient. I strongly suggest you watch my other two videos of how to purl/knit stitch after this one. If you start knitting western after casting on like this you will twist your stitches. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3T7CbODhej8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mp-ZWIQP8XE

Knitting Continental Style|Knit & Purl

07:12
Knitting continental style is so much easier than any other style I've tried, it's way quicker and is easier to build up your work and make it longer faster. You do need to knit looser, generally, which can take some getting used to. In this video you will learn how to: *Wrap your working yarn around your hand, *Knit the standard knit stitch, *Knit the purl stitch, *And learn to combine the two for the Stockinet stitch (flat work on one side, bumpy on the other) The yarn I'm using: Red Heart's "With Love" in "Lettuce" I made this video for my friend Kiri, but it was so long I couldn't send it directly to her and had to put it on here! Hope you learn something :) (P.S.) Yes, I am using chopsticks to knit in this video, the only real needles I own are two feet long!

Knitting for Crocheters

Learn to knit with a crochet brain. Most crocheters, at some point, become interested in learning how to knit. It can be intimidating with 2 needles and a whole new way to work with yarn. Well, only one of those is true. In this video, I show you how to knit continental style and hold your yarn very similar to crochet. Then, I explain the knit and purl stitch in a way that your crochet brain will understand. Knitting Help - Flicking

02:34
"Flicking" is a fast, but unusual, way of knitting right-handed. Because the right needle is never released to wrap the yarn, it is comparable to the speed of continental knitting. This is the way that I knit, and I have received many requests to slow down and explain it in detail. The poncho on the mannequin is here (not my design): http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/115-11-short-poncho-in-2-threads-kid-silk-with-rib-and-cables The pattern for the sweater I'm wearing is here (not my design): http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sitcom-chic I knit my sweater with a cotton yarn that has been discontinued. The yarn I use for demonstration is Cascade 220.

Combination Knitting

04:53
Combination knitting can be extremely ergonomic, eliminating or lessening aches and pains from years of knitting or for people with repetitive stress injury. It's easy and fast. Most Americans knit on Western mounted stitches (right leg of stitch in front of needle). Some Europeans knit on Eastern mounted stitches (left leg of stitch in front). Combination knitting produces a mixture of Eastern and Western stitches on the working needle because of the direction the purl stitch is wrapped. Adaptations are made for increases and decreases (will post later). To learn more and chat with the many other people who knit combination style, join us at Ravelry.com in the Combination Knitters group.

Continental Knitting for Beginners 1—Knit Stitch The Oma Way

36:08
http://theomaway.com I’ve adopted Continental Knitting as The Oma Way of knitting because of its speed and efficiency. The ability to control the tension of the yarn with less difficult movements makes this a more relaxed, effective, and enjoyable method of knitting. As you’ll soon see, your hands will become tools and machines. In this video, I’ll go over a brief introduction to knitting, while sharing some of my own personal experiences with this amazing craft, along with the first three key steps to Continental Knitting: cast on, knit stitch, and bind off. From how to hold your needles in the beginning to how to make a washcloth in the end, this is an easy step-by-step guide for beginners. I’ve been knitting for over 50 years, but soon you’ll be an expert yourself. Just take your time and be patient. Remember, no one has ever written a book without first learning the ABCs. Enjoy!
