Chris talks about the job description and requirements and what day to day is like in product management at one of the hottest and most successful tech startups out there today. He also shares what likes about the job (including working across multiple teams internally and externally) and his career trajectory starting at Apple as a project manager which then led him to start his own company and then landed him a product management job at Dropbox. To perform the product management job, Chris shares the daily product management tools that help him do his job like: Google Docs (for feature specs, planning out schedules), HipChat (for team communications) and GChat (for team communications). When it comes to designing and prototyping, Chris works with a very skilled team of designers. They rely on tools like Sketch to build static mockups and Framer.js to build interactive mockups. Interactive mockups are much cheaper and a great way to build and validate a product before investing time and resources to build the actual product. In this interview, Mark goes beyond the product manager job description and goes into detail about what his day to day was like. Mark also answers the question about how technical you need to be to be a product manager and how being too technical can actually hamper progress. Because Mark started his own company and also worked for himself as a freelancer, I wanted to know how transferable are the skills between product management and being an entrepreneur. Mark emphasizes that the skills and interests are highly transferable because product managers, designers and entrepreneurs are all alike in that they all care a little bit extra in the user experience. Skills that Mark learned on the job as a product manager that he finds highly useful when starting your own products include time management and establishing a roadmap. Mark also taps into the difficult parts of product management including dealing with ambiguity and working on projects that span months. How to Nail Google Interview Question - Ping Pongs on Boeing Airplane P2

07:55
Want to work at Google? This will help you pass interview. How many ping pong balls can fit into an airplane? For example Boeing 747 or 737? This video shows how to answer guesstimate problem that supposedly appeared on Google or Goldman Sachs job interviews. But unlike in many other places, the point is not to give you exact sizing of ping pongs and technical specifications of airplanes, because you don't have this information with you during the job interview. Instead this video shows how to rely on only what you have in your head and whatever is available during the interview to get a reliable answer. This type of questions is designed to get the exact answer, but to test your skills in problem solving, imagination and attention to the details. And this question "How many ping pong balls can fit into Boeing" though it's easy to state, brings many variables, room for establishing details and for showing your math skills. In part 1 I explained how to estimate number of ping pong balls that can fit into one cubic meter and how to get diameter of one ball. Link https://youtu.be/eMcOd4sq2NM In the second part that we consider how much space we have in the airplane and where actually do we want to stuff the ping pongs. We will get our final answer and then verify it for both Boeing 737 and Boeing 747.
