I realised I never showed you guys this. Here it is. The variations on my school uniform. This is the uniform for my High School in Japan. Ageo Koko. A typical uniform style for Japan, it's not really a sailor uniform but it is still called a "seifuku" 制服.

The Japanese pop band drew criticism online as Twitter users posted pictures of Nazis next to their image A Japanese girlband has shocked fans by dressing in black uniforms that reportedly appear eerily similar to those worn by Nazi soldiers in WW2. The band, called Keyakizaka46, sparked outrage online with their black capes and peaked hats seen in images on their website. Fans took to Twitter to share pictures comparing the outfits, and commenting on how they looked like Nazis. The band has not yet commented on the worrying comparisons being made online but it is reported the apparent similarity to SS uniforms is merely a coincidence.

A popular all-girl idol group in Japan has come under fire for wearing outfits resembling the military uniform of Nazi Germany. The members of the Keyakizaka46 appeared in military-style black coats and caps with a Nazi-like eagle emblem at a performance in Yokohama City on October 22nd. The performance has led to controversy on the Internet and was carried by overseas media. The US-based Jewish human rights group Simon Wiesenthal Center issued a statement on Monday, expressing disgust. The Center said watching young teens on the stage and in the audience dancing in Nazi-style uniforms causes great distress to the victims of the Nazi genocide. It also said that even if no harm was intended by the group, that performance cheapens the memory of the victims of the Nazis and sends the wrong message to young people in Germany and other countries. The Center urged the group's label, Sony Music, and its producer, Yasushi Akimoto to apologize. Sony Music Entertainment issued a comment and offered an apology for causing distress. The company pledged never to use the costumes again and to do its utmost to prevent a recurrence. Akimoto told NHK that he learned of the matter through the news media. He said he is very sorry as producer although he did not know about the outfits beforehand. He pledged advance checks and staff training.

What is perfectly normal in the UK may be completely unheard of in Germany, and the rules commonly found in the Japanese education system are certainly not usual in the USA! Japanese schools are notoriously strict and much more standardized than many schools in western countries. Nonetheless, they also net the kind of results that we in the west envy and desire to replicate. There are definitely some rules that you will find hard to believe; the question is, do they contribute to the resounding success of Japan’s education system? Here are 12 Japanese School Rules You Won’t Believe Actually Exist; 12. Kancho-ing the Teacher The word Kancho in itself is a slang version of the word used to denote a medical enema, but refers to a children’s game (believe it or not). Kanchoing is more of a tradition than a rule, but it’s definitely something to be aware of if you plan to teach English in Japan! 11. No Accessories! As you will soon find out, there is often a strict dress code in Japanese schools, but there is also a rule against using accessories to change your appearance! Students are prohibited from using colored contact lenses, dying their hair, and having unusual piercings. In fact, some schools even ban the painting of nails and the grooming of eyebrows! 10.
