DGK Dirty Ghetto Kids Car Window Vinyl Decal StickerDGK is short form for Dirty Ghetto Kids, a name that Stevie Williams and his skateboarding friends acquired when growing up in the streets of Philadelphia. For eight years since hitting the market, DGK is a well known label among many hip hop lovers.
Williams, who was born in 1979 in Philadelphia, became interested in skateboarding at a tender age of 11. Though the streets were tough, Williams and his crew grew to become the toughest skateboarding group, despite the trash talking. He is now an accomplished pro skater and entrepreneur.

DGK's designs are perfect for kids who do not have parental supervision, just like Williams and his crew. He embraces the negativity in which he grew up, and actually pays homage to his childhood streets. Such slogans as 'Nothing to Lose', 'For Those Who Come from nothing' and 'If You Got Haters You Must Be Doing Something Right' are used liberally on the t shirts, sweatpants and other clothing items.
Initially, DGK offered a wide range of edgy ghetto style skateboards and wheels, which has set them apart from other skateboard companies. The brand has also introduced its own line of t-shirts, hoods, hats, and other accessories.
DGK Enters a Tough Market
Reebok Men's ZigKick Running ShoeWhen the cloth line was introduced in 2002, Williams was the sole founder. However, in 2004, Williams' manager, Mr. Peter Golden, sold an idea to Reebok. In Golden's master plan of how to penetrate the tough skateboarding market, he was to sign up his client, the one and only skateboarding legend Stevie Williams.
The duo, Golden and Williams, helped the Reebok team to design a complete line of products, which included DGK Skating shoes and clothing. Williams became the pioneer professional skateboarder benefactor of Reebok's sponsorship. Subsequently, he gave advice on the classic 'Flipside' skating sneakers.
The DGK Clothing Line Today
DGK has teamed up with several other entrepreneurs to give a new twist to the line's designs. Y & R, (Young and Reckless) is one of the brands that have teamed up with the accomplished DGK fashion line. Y&R adds a fun and graphic side to the DGK clothing logo, and resulting hot clothing designs are available online.
Stevie's DGK has also teamed up with hip hop star Lil Wayne's Trukfit clothes line. The duo launched their fashion lines at Macy's Stores in 1st June this year. While the DGK line is well over 8 years in the market, the Trukfit line by the Grammy award winning hip hop rapper was launched early this year, in January. Since DGK inspires the hip hop generation, the two brands are welcome in the hip hop fashion scene.
According to a press release dated March 30th 2012, DGK's founder announced that the brand was entering an exclusive licensing and sponsorship deal with the Canadian teen pop star Justin Bieber. According to Williams, one of the brand's mottos is 'For Those Who Come from Nothing', which applies to Justin perfectly. This is an excellent way to sell the apparel to a wider market since Bieber's fan base is entirely different from Stevie's. Justin has been seen, on numerous occasions, sporting DGK branded apparel.
Lil WayneDGK clothing line has surely had its mark in the hip hop scene. Other than Lil Wayne, and the pop star Justin Bieber, Rick Ross has been spotted wearing DGK apparel. He was so proud of the brand that he posted photos of himself donning the apparel on his Rich Forever Instagram account.
Describing the brand's inspiration, Wiliams said that firstly, the brand is for the young. If you do not want to be caught wearing old clothing and accessories, then DGK is for you. Secondly, the products are color coded, which means that they are designed for pairing and matching. For example, you can rock a t-shirt with sweatpants, or jeans with a jacket and the clothing will work well together.
Lastly, Williams confirms what everybody already knows; the brand features authentic designs. According to Williams, DGK is the perfect street wear, more so for skateboarding pros, amateurs and fans.
DGK's wide skateboarding fashion line is a must have for hip hop fans. Currently, The Kayo Corporation distributes DGK products, along with Organika, Expedition One and Gold Wheels. The products are also stocked in a variety of online stores.
