In just a few years, Musika Frère has become the go-to brand for all-stars, movie stars, and men with style. And social media has helped pave their way.
Whether they're dressing past Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco, Sterling K. Brown from This Is Us, or Nick Jonas, cofounders Aleks Musika and Davidson Petit-Frère take fit and fashion very seriously.
They recently dressed Chadwick Boseman, the star of Black Panther. They just dressed Luis Fonsi for the Latin Grammy Awards. Jay-Z wore their olive double-breasted tuxedo to Clive Davis's pre-Grammy party.
New York-based Musika Frère launched in 2014 after Aleks and Davidson started admiring each other's style on social media. Davidson says they were probably the first menswear designers born on Instagram.
Aleks was working in made to measure for Tom Ford at the time. Davidson was in real estate. They got together in Miami, made a business plan at the Miami Library, and started from there.
Musika Frère prides themselves on fit and fabrics, working with legendary fabric houses like Loro Piana and Dormeuil.
They love working those incredible fabrics in new ways. Aleks says the first impactful suit they made had a contrasting waistband.
They're also known for their dinner wear, taking fabrics for women's dresses and turning them into unique dinner jackets.
But it's not just suiting. Davidson says they make bespoke suits, ready to wear suits, shirts, and ties. They also do leather jackets and bombers, and recently launched jewelry and cuff links.
An entry-level Musika Frère suit costs around $2,200 to $2,395. They can run more than $10,000 depending on the fabric.
Aleks and Davidson recently flew out to L.A to put Kevin Durant in a custom leather jacket for the NBA All-Star Weekend. They've been dressing Durant since 2015. Steph Curry is also a client.
And regular customer, Kevin Hart, called on them to custom design wedding tuxedos for him and his son, a huge success for the brand.
So what's next? They'll be launching a fragrance soon that has notes of jasmine and tobacco. They're also launching womenswear in a few months, having already designed a few custom pieces for Beyoncé.
