SNES Longplay [357] Magic Knight Rayearth (Fan Translation)

06:06:36
http://www.longplays.org Played by: xRavenXP Longplay of Magic Knight Rayearth, an RPG made and published by Tomy and released in 1995 in Japan for the Super Famicon. As you may have already guessed, it is based on the popular Magic Knight Rayearth anime series, a very good anime. The game's storyline is entirely based on the first TV series, containing all characters and various events. The game begins with three girls: Hikaru Shidou (fire power), Umi Ryuuzaki (water power) and Fuu Hououji (wind power) transported to a strange new world in one travel for Tokyo. Our girls meet Master Mage Clef, who tells them why and how they're there. The Princess Emeraude, the pillar of Cephiro, was kidnapped by high priest Zagato. To fulfill the mission, our heroes must travel through this new world in search to save the kingdom and free Emeraude, besides rescuing the mashins (holy dragons) and gradually evolve alongside allies. It's a typical turn-based RPG from the Magic Knights. It's a good but short RPG game (there is no cut in the video, all the random battles are included too). The game was released in Japan only!

CGR Undertow - MAGIC KNIGHT RAYEARTH review for Sega Saturn

03:41
Magic Knight Rayearth review. http://www.ClassicGameRoom.com Shop CGR shirts & mugs! http://www.CGRstore.com Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Magic Knight Rayearth for Sega Saturn developed by Sega and published by Working Designs. There were six Magic Knight Rayearth games released in Japan, but this is the only one that made it out. I suppose strange roulette-based RPGs on the Game Gear were no go, but considering how much this Saturn version feels like a CLAMP-styled Secret of Mana - a top-down action RPG, heavy on storyline and light on number-crunching - Working Designs felt it worth dubbing the whole thing and publishing it in 1998, three years and change after its original release. This video review features video gameplay footage of Magic Knight Rayearth for Saturn and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's TJ.

[TAS] Saturn Magic Knight Rayearth by Mitjitsu in 13:22.0

18:26
This is a tool-assisted speedrun. For more information, see http://tasvideos.org/3741M.html. TAS originally published on 2018-07-15. The balance in the magical world of Cefiro is supported by the prayers of the lovely princess Emerald. When the evil Sage Master imprisoned her, the existence of the entire world was endangered. Using her spiritual powers, the princess contacted three Japanese high-school girls, Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu, turned them into Magic Knights, and summoned them to Cefiro, where their goal is to save her and to restore the balance. Magic Knight Rayearth is a game developed by Sega AM7 R&D Division and published by Working Designs (whilst upping the difficulty a notch and botching the translation in the process) in North America in November 1998, making it the final Sega Saturn game released in North America. Mitjitsu (http://tasvideos.org/Mitjitsu.html) improves the previous TAS (http://tasvideos.org/3708M.html) by a tremendous 13 minutes and 58.1 seconds, mainly thanks to exploiting the infinite magic trick, allowing the game's most powerful spell to be used infinitely even when not meeting the required mana costs.

Magic Knight Rayearth Review - St1ka's Retro Corner (Sega Saturn)

Magic Knight Rayearth was the last Sega Saturn game to have been launched in the US despite being an early Saturn title in Japan. Localized by Working Designs, this action RPG commands high prices on ebay, being considered a collector's item. In this review, I take a look at the game and see if it's still worth a playthrough. Magic Knight Rayearth (Saturn): JP vs. US gameplay

06:27
Companion video to https://tcrf.net/Magic_Knight_Rayearth_%28Sega_Saturn%29 The US version of Magic Knight Rayearth, being published by Working Designs and all, had a few little changes that went unmentioned in the manual. "A few little changes" here meaning "almost every enemy in the game is sped up, does 2x-5x more damage, or (most likely) both". This video is nowhere near comprehensive in covering the changes -- it would be easier to count the bare handful of enemies that weren't boosted in some way. If you'd like to play the US version without the absurd difficulty, I've made a series of patches to revert the difficulty changes in Working Designs' releases. See this page for more info: http://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php/topic,23436.0.html Please excuse the audio stutters and my atrocious gameplay -- playing and recording two games at once is more than me or my CPU was designed for.

CGR Undertow - MAGIC KNIGHT RAYEARTH review for Game Gear

03:01
Magic Knight Rayearth review. Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Magic Knight Rayearth for Game Gear developed and published by Sega. Strange Anime License Friday rolls on with Magic Knight Rayearth, CLAMP's tale of three magic-wielding girls on a quest to rescue Mokona, their cute bunny-looking lump of marketability what goes "Puu" all the time. And, since this is 1994 and it's a game based on an anime series, you know it's either a fighting game or an RPG. This falls into the latter, with more random battles than you can shake a paralyzed Zubat at and a strange, constantly-spinning method of character control. This video review features video gameplay footage of Magic Knight Rayearth for Game Gear and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's TJ.

02:27
Magic Knight Rayearth is an action role-playing video game developed and published by Sega for the Sega Saturn in 1995. It is based on the anime series of the same title (Magic Knight Rayearth). The game was released in North America by Working Designs; it was the last Saturn game released in North America in 1998. Throughout the game, the player controls a party of three characters. However, only one character can battle at a time; though the other two characters will follow behind the active character, they cannot attack and are unaffected by all enemy attacks and even environmental hazards. The player can instantly change the active character at any time. In essence, the three characters confront the enemies, puzzles, and assorted threats of the game in a tag team fashion. Unlike most RPGs, character upgrades and magic spells are mostly acquired upon progressing to certain points in the game, rather than by independent accomplishments. (The exceptions are maximum HP and maximum MP, which are increased by finding special items.) This is much like the Saturn's first RPG, Virtual Hydlide, with the important difference that weapons and armor in Magic Knight Rayearth are upgraded as part of general level ups and do not exist as distinct gameplay elements. While the anime and manga both have the Magic Knights using color-coordinated swords, in the game only Hikaru uses a sword, while Umi uses a foil and Fuu a bow and arrow. Each of the three weapons has its own advantages and disadvantages. For instance, the bow works long range but requires precise aim, whereas the sword slices with broad strokes that make it easy to hit enemies but is short range only. The need to aim the bow is mostly removed once it is upgraded, since Fuu can then charge the weapon to make it "lock on" to the nearest target. However, unlike the sword and foil, the bow's attack power does not increase when it is charged up.

Here is the opening and beginning gameplay to one of the last domestically released Sega Saturn games, Magic Knight Rayearth. This game had so many problems in the translation process as stated by Working Designs. The game was originally released in 1995 in Japan. Though it took awhile, releasing this game was pretty much "fan service" to Saturn owners and WD fans. Trivia: No Sega Seal of Quality on the case....hmmm

Magic Knight Rayearth Intro (Sega Saturn)

01:33
Anime intro to Magic Knight Rayearth on the Sega Saturn. Check out the alternate intro here: http://youtu.be/Ys6EJ0VRd4c Magic Knight Rayearth is an action/adventure video game that was made and published by Sega for the Sega Saturn. It is based on the anime series of the same name (Magic Knight Rayearth). The game was released in North America by the now defunct Working Designs; it is notable because it was the last Saturn game released in the US region. Because of its late release in the US, it was not localized in Europe. Working Designs was based in Redding, California, and all the voice actors they used were local, as was their standard. Key voice actors such as Paul Howell and T. Owen Smith voiced the evil characters of the game. While the anime and manga both have the Magic Knights using color-coordinated swords, in the game only Hikaru uses a sword, while Umi uses a fencing sword and Fuu a bow and arrow. This probably was to increase game play variety.
