Do you know who your startup competes against? What research should you do? How about the market you serve? In this video, I share three top strategies you can leverage in your business to get ahead of your competition as fast as possible. Are you an entrepreneur? Get free weekly video training here: http://www.danmartell.com/newsletter + Join me on FB: http://FB.com/DanMartell + Connect w/ me live: http://periscope.tv/danmartell + Tweet me: http://twitter.com/danmartell + Instagram awesomeness: http://instagram.com/danmartell MaritimeVacation.ca was my first company. In hindsight, it should’ve been a huge success since it was a vacation rental website. Yep, like AirBNB or VRBO. And with the first mover advantage (I started it in 1999) I should’ve been primed for success. But I wasn’t. And 6 months later the project was dead. So what did I do wrong? I didn’t understand the market. I just coded. No research. No strategy. Maybe you’ve made the same mistake. The worst part is I didn’t learn my lesson after that company failed. I did it again with NBHost.com - a web hosting company. We spent $$$ buying servers and software with NO understanding of the market. That shifted when I started Spheric Technologies, the company that eventually worked. What changed? I decided to hire a business student from a local university to help me conduct market research. They told me EXACTLY where my ideal customers were located, and some of the major challenges they were currently facing. That company grew by 150% year over year to over 30 employees before being acquired 4 years later. So that’s what I want share in this weeks video... ... how to conduct world-class market research at little to no cost, that’s not boring to read and is quick to act on. In this video, I go over 3 strategies to help you research your market faster so that you can move on to the fun stuff with greater clarity (pun intended)! 1. Leverage University Students 2. Hire Researchers Online 3. Past Failed/Successful Founders Don’t make the same mistake so many founders - including myself - made when I first got started. Learn who your ideal customer is, what the competitive set looks like and the ideal way to reach out to them. Get some help! Here’s to learning like a pro! With gratitude, – Dan Don't forget to share this entrepreneurial advice with your friends, so they can learn too: https://youtu.be/KCEWgq8S9gM ===================== ABOUT DAN MARTELL ===================== “You can only keep what you give away.” That’s the mantra that’s shaped Dan Martell from a struggling 20-something business owner in the Canadian Maritimes (which is waaay out east) to a successful startup founder who’s raised more than $3 million in venture funding and exited not one... not two... but three tech businesses: Clarity.fm, Spheric and Flowtown. You can only keep what you give away. That philosophy has led Dan to invest in 33+ early stage startups such as Udemy, Intercom, Unbounce and Foodspotting. It’s also helped him shape the future of Hootsuite as an advisor to the social media tour de force. An activator, a tech geek, an adrenaline junkie and, yes, a romantic (ask his wife Renee), Dan has recently turned his attention to teaching startups a fundamental, little-discussed lesson that directly impacts their growth: how to scale. You’ll find not only incredible insights in every moment of every talk Dan gives - but also highly actionable takeaways that will propel your business forward. Because Dan gives freely of all that he knows. After all, you can only keep what you give away. How To Do Market Research – Basic Online Market Research For Your Business

Click here to subscribe: https://bit.ly/2HxjQRa Click here to work with me: https://bit.ly/2FY2vzF How great would it be to know what your customers wanted before they even asked for it? Can you imaging what it would do for your business and your reputation to always have a collection of highly sought after products or services? You’d quickly become the go-to expert in your field and customers would know they could count on you to solve their problems quickly and easily. And that’s why on this episode of we’re talking all about market research, and I’ll give you 5 ways to know what your customers want before they even do. #1 Google Trends Google trends allows you to track which keywords are increasing in popularity and provides suggestions for other terms that are rising in search volume. This is a hugely valuable tool and for the most part is largely ignored, which means that by using it you’re gaining valuable insights that your competitors are likely not using. #2 Google Keyword Planner To use the keyword planner you first need to sign up for a free Google Adwords account. Even if you’re not planning on advertising it’s still a good thing to have. From there you can access their free Keyword Planner, type in a keyword and receive not only the number of searches for that keyword, but also a list of suggested keywords that people are looking for online each and every month. #3 Facebook Insights The best way to use Facebook Insights is to post a variety of different content to your business page (all related to your business of course) and see which posts get the most engagement (such as likes, shares, and comments). From there you can determine what type of content your audience is most interested in so you can start to create more just like it, and eventually, products and services around those subjects. #4 Twitter Insights Twitter audiences allow you to really drill down on the types of things your customers and followers are interested in. As an example, for my account I can see that my audience is made up mostly of people interested in entrepreneurship, marketing, travel, and technology. #5 Google Alerts The final piece of our customer understanding puzzle comes again from the search engine giant, Google. Google Alerts allows you to monitor what’s happening with your customers right now. The way to use Google Alerts is to enter a keyword that you would like to track into the search bar at the top of the page, then Google will email you when this keyword appears online. You can use this to track your businesses name, the industry you’re in, your own name, your competitors, or pretty much anything else you can think of. Customer Insights Using even one of these tools can help you gain a better understanding of your customers. But when you combine all 5, you’re really able to create a clear and compelling picture of your customers wants, needs, and behaviors. And the better you understand them, the better you’re able to come up with value providing services and solutions to their problems. ► Download your free copy of The One Page Marketing Plan Here – http://adamerhart.com/marketingplan #LINKS Website: http://adamerhart.com Twitter: http://twitter.com/adamerhart Facebook: http://facebook.com/officialadamerhart Instagram: http://instagram.com/adamerhart Snapchat: snapadamerhart

marketing research for beginners, understanding marketing research fundamentals

01:13:22
marketing research for beginners, understanding marketing research fundamentals. Definition: The process of gathering, analyzing and interpreting information about a market, about a product or service to be offered for sale in that market, and about the past, present and potential customers for the product or service; research into the characteristics, spending habits, location and needs of your business's target market, the industry as a whole, and the particular competitors you face. Market research provides relevant data to help solve marketing challenges that a business will most likely face--an integral part of the business planning process. In fact, strategies such as market segmentation (identifying specific groups within a market) and product differentiation (creating an identity for a product or service that separates it from those of the competitors) are impossible to develop without market research. Market research involves two types of data: Primary information. This is research you compile yourself or hire someone to gather for you. Secondary information. This type of research is already compiled and organized for you. Examples of secondary information include reports and studies by government agencies, trade associations or other businesses within your industry. Most of the research you gather will most likely be secondary. When conducting primary research, you can gather two basic types of information: exploratory or specific. Exploratory research is open-ended, helps you define a specific problem, and usually involves detailed, unstructured interviews in which lengthy answers are solicited from a small group of respondents. Specific research, on the other hand, is precise in scope and is used to solve a problem that exploratory research has identified. Interviews are structured and formal in approach. Of the two, specific research is the more expensive.
How To Use Google Trends, 2019 Update! Market Research To Compare Keywords, Topics & Niches, Fast!

24:29
How to use Google Trends for internet marketers... The 2019 edition! Learn how to leverage Google's data to compare trends in keywords, niches and topic ideas in seconds. Use Google Trends for your market research to get a competitive edge on your competition, every time! Google trends was officially launched in May of 2006 and has become one of the world's most powerful niche and market research tool available free to you, every day! Whether you are trying to compare keyword search volume over time, or identifying which niches are currently trending to focus your marketing efforts, with a few clicks of the mouse you will be able to visually identify what is trending in the mindset of your target audience. If you want more help with keyword research and how to create your master keyword list, watch this video next: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eofkzs0fVOA Why is it important to know what is trending in the mass consciousness of your target market? Easy... People turn to Google's search bar for their deepest and most urgent questions. The questions they search and the phrases they use to create a massive dataset that begins to paint a picture of the biggest desires within your audience. Once you understand what the trending desires and questions are within your target market, you are able to create niche websites, articles, videos, podcast episodes, products and services to help your audience achieve their true desires. You see, desire is not created within your audience... Their desires are already there. Your job as an internet marketer is to tap into their desires, answer their questions, help them avoid their fears and ultimately achieve their goals and desires. When you are able to see what questions, desires and fears are trending, in nearly real-time, you have a very clear picture of what content and products are being requested by your audience. The Google Trends tool is the key to unlock this mystery behind your audience's deepest desires! This video shows you how to use Google Trends in 2018, quickly and efficiently so you can get the information you need, fast... And so you can get back to the 'work' that is creating the content or products. We start by looking at how to use Google Trends as a niche research tool, starting with the 'Vegan Dog Food' niche example I've used in several other videos. If you are at this point, working on niche research, trying to find your main niche, be sure to check out my playlist on niche research that shows how to use other tools to do even more niche research: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIZxKpnesTw&list=PL0sOKzn__yK3bPvVRts4CXOtPciYcu7iZ From here we move on to some big trending topics around Bitcoin and Ethereum looking at how the search volumes even track the price of these coins, to show how deep the Google Trends data truly goes. From here you will learn how to get additional topic ideas and keyword ideas from the Trends tool, too. The third example is how to identify seasonal trends, patterns and potential challenges for niches that have very seasonal buying seasons. Before entering a niche you need to know if it is consistent throughout the year or if it has low points through the year. If there are low points, all is not lost... You will see how to find counter-seasonal topics or products to fill in your low season through this tool! Finally, we look at trends in diet patterns, from the New Year's bump to the long-term patterns in lifestyle diets vs. diet fads. This gives a clear picture of what kinds of products people would purchase and what times of years would have the best chance to sell those products. If you have a list in the health and wellness space, you could leverage this information to know exactly what day each year would be the most profitable to launch a specific product offer, whether it is your product or an affiliate offer. Again, I believe it is through more effective and consistent market research that you unlock the opportunity to be more strategic than your competitors. Most people don't take the time to do the research... If you habituate the process of learning how to use Google Trends and the keyword research tool, you will find yourself gaining rankings in your blog, your YouTube channel and you will experience more conversions. My other favorite research process for niche research and content marketing is keyword research. You can get my full keyword research video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_FfdjNOgpQ Once you have the keywords and have created your content, you need to know how to implement those phrases into your content marketing... This free SEO course shows exactly what to do, where and why! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8EI6JaFbv4 How To Use Google Trends, 2018 Update! How To Use Google Trends | For Product or Market Research

06:54
Visit: http://successwithrupali.com In case you're wondering how to use Google Trends for product or market research - look no further! Because I break it all down for you in this video. Google Trends is a highly resourceful tool that you can use to search the popularity (or the lack thereof) of products, companies, industries, people, basically anything. In this video, I specifically focus on searching products/companies and industries. With Google Trends you can search the following things: 1) Interest over time in a search time (I use examples of Atkin's Diet, Affiliate Marketing, MLM, and Digital Altitude). You can adjust the time period of the search, location (region), and categories. I typically only adjust the time period and leave everything else as is. 2) The countries/regions that have the highest interest in that search term 3) Relevant topics. So if you search "atkin's diet" you can scroll down and see any relevant topics that have a surge in searches. At the time of this recording, "Kim Kardashian has a 2300% increase in searches when we researched "Atkin's Diet." You can also use this tool to check upcoming product or company launches and search terms that are on the decline. Basically if you see a product, company, or industry on an upward trend or stable that a good sign. If you see it on a downward trend that's a bad sign and probably not something you want to spend more time on researching. Also, if a company or product just launched, usually you'll see a spike in searches and then an immediate downward trend - this is normal because it's just adjusting for the spike in searches due to the new launch. Hope this helped and now you know how to use google trends for product or market research! ★☆★ SUBSCRIBE TO ME ON YOUTUBE ★☆★ ★☆★ FOLLOW ME BELOW ★☆★ https://www.facebook.com/entreprenheracademy/ https://www.instagram.com/entreprenheracademy/ https://www.youtube.com/rupalimonga

By default, the decisions we make regarding marketing mix will be as good as our understanding of the target market. If we’ve done quality research, the likelihood of coming up with a good marketing mix combination increases. Four major variables shape a company’s marketing mix. These variables are known as the Four Ps of Marketing. Focusing on: • Product • Price • Place • And Promotion This has proven to be an effective way to understand the decisions a company makes when it enters a market and competes in it. If a company understands the needs of its customers, it can create products that satisfy the clients’ expectations and contain the features they desire; it will offer these products at a price that corresponds to the target market’s willingness to spend, and it will offer them where the target market loves to shop. It will also build its brand communication in a language that speaks to the target market. Marketing Mix and the Four Ps is intuitive. Marketing managers should concentrate on these variables and tailor them regarding the target market they’ve chosen to pursue.

Here’s what to do before anything else. The purpose of a product launch is to drive traffic and sales to your online business, so that it can grow and thrive. Launching a new product is a great way to attract new customers, but it takes time to plan and execute. Many entrepreneurs feel the need to promote their products right away, and end up rushing the process. The result can be disastrous. In the words of David Ramsey, "People are in such a hurry to launch their product that they seldom look at marketing from a bird's eye view and they don't create a systematic plan." A successful product launch starts with a great strategy, and I'm here to walk you through it. Are you ready to learn the step-by-step process for launching your product? Here's what to do before anything else. This page contains affiliate links. If you purchase a product through one of them, I will receive a commission (at no additional cost to you). Business plan part 5 - market analysis

20:01
A German Internet Marketer tells his secret - http://www.the-next-revolution.com/ We move on to the next point, the market analysis: in which market segment do I wish to be active? What is the nature of this market? The first thing to consider is your target group. Consider this question: who are you trying to reach? Many people respond, “Oh, everyone. Everyone has to eat. Everyone has to go to the hairdresser. My target group is everyone.” When you take this approach, you are near enough condemning yourself to failure. Though it might seem tricky, it’s crucial that you specify your target group. Where do they live? What do they do? How old are they? What kind of hobbies do they have? Am I targeting males or females? Define your target group very clearly. Some firms even sketch out their target group without familiarising themselves with their targets in real life – they have no customer contact. They pull together an image of how they see their typical customer, and proceed according to that. This is because, nowadays, it is impossible to design a catch-all product or service. Everyone has their own individual identity. You must identify a particular target group and establish yourself within it. Later, you will have chance to expand; but you should begin with a relatively clear-cut target group. When you have recruited this group as fans of your product or brand, you can start to broaden your horizons a little. Consider where else your product could have relevance. Or perhaps you could expand your range of products within this particular target group. Whatever you decide to do later, it is crucial that you identify precisely who you target group is. Do not adopt this “for-all” approach - the mentality that all who pass by your store will automatically become your customers. This will not be the case. If you try to accommodate this, you will end up with an assortment of goods that - like your target group - is not clearly defined. Imagine someone entering your shop. “What is this place actually for?” they will ask themselves. “What’s this? Is this a toyshop or a shoe shop or a shop for fur coats? There’s nothing they don’t sell!” Without a clear-cut target group, you’ll end up offering a confusing, nonsensical array of products. You won’t win any proper customers, and the whole thing will be doomed to fail from the off. The target group is crucial! Next to be addressed, of course, are your competitors: who is already established in the market? What are their strengths and weaknesses? It happens frequently that a budding entrepreneur will get their venture going and only realise afterwards that there’s an identical store two streets away. Now, this doesn’t necessarily have to be a disaster: you can drive your competitors out of the market. However, this will be considerably more difficult than simply establishing a business for which there is no competition.

FREE AMAZON FBA TRAINING: https://projectlifemastery.com/fba/?utm_medium=social&utm_source=youtube&utm_campaign=free-amazon-fba-training-promo&utm_term=jungle-scout-review&utm_content=lc-youtube-description Learn how to find a product to sell on Amazon in only 5 minutes in this Jungle Scout review, so that you can start to private label a product and sell it on Amazon FBA. In this video, Stefan quickly shows you how to research and analyze any niche market or product on Amazon to help you determine whether or not it's a profitable and worthwhile product for you to sell on Amazon. "I'll mention this again in my previous video on how to find profitable niches and products on Amazon I did mention the importance of doing the research--you need to make sure before you sell any product on Amazon or private label one that you spend extra amount of time on researching a niche and market. If you do a poor job at this what I'm showing you right now, you pick the wrong niche or the wrong product to sell on Amazon then it almost doesn't matter how much marketing that you do or how much do you try to sell it--if there's not a demand there, there's not a market, there's not a niche there. There's not people that are already buying products in that market the you're going to have a really hard time selling on Amazon." ★☆★ VIEW THE BLOG POST: ★☆★ https://projectlifemastery.com/greg-mercer-jungle-scout/?utm_medium=social&utm_source=youtube&utm_campaign=blog-post-promo&utm_term=jungle-scout-review&utm_content=lc-youtube-description ★☆★ SUBSCRIBE TO ME ON YOUTUBE: ★☆★ Subscribe ► http://projectlifemastery.com/youtube ★☆★ FOLLOW ME BELOW: ★☆★ Blog ► https://www.projectlifemastery.com/?utm_medium=social&utm_source=youtube&utm_campaign=homepage-promo&utm_term=jungle-scout-review&utm_content=lc-youtube-description Twitter ► http://www.projectlifemastery.com/twitter Twitter ► http://www.twitter.com/stefanjames23 Facebook ► http://www.projectlifemastery.com/facebook Facebook ► http://www.facebook.com/stefanjames23 Instagram ► http://projectlifemastery.com/instagram Instagram ► http://www.instagram.com/stefanjames23 Snapchat ► http://projectlifemastery.com/snapchat Periscope ► http://projectlifemastery.com/periscope iTunes Podcast ► http://www.projectlifemastery.com/itunes ★☆★ ABOUT PROJECT LIFE MASTERY: ★☆★ The Project Life Mastery YouTube channel is the place to be for motivational, inspiring, educational, and uplifting self improvement videos. SWOT analysis in practice - Starbucks -------------------------------- Strategy analysis has two main branches – analysis of a firm’s external environment and analysis of a firm’s internal environment. SWOT is a famous framework that allows us to combine the two types of analysis. SWOT is sometimes referred to as internal-external analysis. The acronym SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. The first two, Strengths and Weaknesses, are related to a firm’s internal environment, while the last two, Opportunities and Threats, consider its external environment. Internal strengths and external opportunities are vertically paired as helpful elements, while internal weaknesses and external threats are paired as harmful elements. if we perform a company analysis, under strengths, we would expect to see its core competences, the areas where the business excels and has a competitive advantage over competitors. Weaknesses are areas that need improvement. Such vulnerabilities place a company at a disadvantage when competing against other firms. Opportunities can be seen as favorable factors existing in a company’s external environment, in the industry where it operates, and have the potential to improve its current results and competitive positioning. Threats arise in a company’s external environment and might harm its current business.

Marketing Minute 030: “Why Polls and Surveys Fail” (Political Marketing Research) #MarketingMinute

01:26
What are the causes underlying the occasional failure of marketing research studies, opinion surveys, and political polls? Let’s talk about three key causes. The first failure occurs with bad sampling, when those surveyed are not representative of the people who will be making the decisions to act in some manner in the future, whether that’s purchasing a particular product or voting for a particular candidate. It’s not enough to have a sample that represents the population; you need a sample that represents the population that is expected to perform the action. The second failure occurs when questions are asked the wrong way, perhaps due to misworded items that aren’t completely understood, or maybe leading questions that nudge respondents to answer in a certain biased manner. The third failure occurs when people are asked to disclose opinions that are sensitive to those being surveyed or are deemed by society or the media to be socially unacceptable. No one wants to be labeled stupid or inappropriate or foolish. If you attempt to measure people’s opinions when they feel uncomfortable, you’ll end up with misinformation due to their unwillingness to disclose the truth. **Be sure to subscribe to my channel so that you don't miss any future episodes of Monday's Marketing Minute. **Also, connect with me on any of the following: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/anthonymiyazaki Twitter: https://twitter.com/sensiblefolk Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sensiblefolk/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/AnthonyMiyazaki

She’s done everything from plus size women’s apparel to cat food and everything in between.
