Waterotor Portable Turbine - High Energy Output from Slow Moving Water

00:57
An Innovative breakthrough for harnessing energy from very slow moving water. The small, rolling drum-like device called the Waterotor, created by Fred Ferguson, CEO of Waterotor Energy Technologies, is capable of harnessing energy from water currents moving at just one to six miles per hour and converting into electricity. The Waterotor is ideal for the world’s energy requirement through renewable way because it transforms the energy in slow-moving rivers and ocean currents to electrical power, thereby making a continual stream of low-cost electricity available 24 hours a day to people and businesses not connected to a central grid. This unique hydro-turbine is the result of a multiyear R&D program conducted under the leadership of renowned technologist Fred Ferguson, recipient of numerous awards and recognition for his work in the aerospace and energy fields. Waterotor is unique in that its highly developed design can extract a very high level of energy (Coefficient of Power) from very slow flowing water. Waterotor stands alone by extracting 30 % of slow moving water energy and converting this energy to electricity at these very slow water flow speeds. No other water extraction device can effectively and cost efficiently operate in a flow speed of 4 mph ‘typically found in ocean currents and many river systems’. Also, the 30 % extraction rate is a constant from flow speeds as low as 1 mph. Fundamental to the invention is the way in which the Waterotor achieves maximum torque resulting in a high coefficient of power. This relates directly to power vs. size vs. water flow speed. Ferguson’s early inventive understanding of the combined components and features regarding the W.E.T. Waterotor has been verified for maximum energy extraction for a water flow speed range from 1 mph to over 20 mph (size and generator match ‘selection’ per size and flow conditions). Efficiency rating is 24 % energy extraction to over 30% – about the maximum expected efficiency for a Savonius rotor. Advantages of Waterotor Operates in slow-moving water; as lower than 1.5 mph Mobile, requires no bottom fixtures or foundation, only simple anchoring Strong yet simple structural integrity (‘drum like’) High coefficient of power (high-energy output vs. size) Environmentally friendly (no high speed spinning blades) Broadens a competitive market from very low to high water flow speeds Most cost effective (simple to build and fully scalar) The Waterotor-Generator is classified as a ‘low head’ system, meaning the flow is horizontal through the entire system. It is unique among all low-head systems in that it is the only device that is not an open propeller-like bladed turbine or ‘airfoil-like’ turbine. These bladed turbines accelerate in the flow to tip speeds higher than the flow itself. Given the difference in density of water and air, a 3 mph ocean current has about as much kinetic energy as a 240 mph wind. Hence, a much smaller device is required to harness energy. From water flow than to harness wind energy. As oceans cover over 70% of the earth’s surface, ocean energy (including wave power, tidal current power and ocean thermal energy conversion) represents a vast source of energy, estimated at between 3,000 TWh (Terawatts), i.e. 2,000,000,000,000,000 watt hours per year. This is enough energy to satisfy a major portion of the world’s electrical needs. The National Research Council recently selected the Waterotor for support under its highly competitive Industrial Research Assistance Program. Black & McDonald and other Canadian companies have helped to get the Waterotor ready for commercial production.

5 AMAZING Ship Launch Videos

03:19
Ship launching is the process of transferring a vessel to the water. It is a naval tradition in many cultures, dating back thousands of years. It has been observed as a public celebration and a solemn blessing. Ship launching imposes stresses on the ship not met during normal operation, in addition to the size and weight of the vessel, and it represents a considerable engineering challenge as well as a public spectacle. The process also involves many traditions intended to invite good luck, such as christening by breaking a sacrificial bottle of champagne over the bow as the ship is named aloud and launched. There are three principal methods of conveying a new ship from building site to water, only two of which are called "launching." The oldest, most familiar, and most widely used is the end-on launch, in which the vessel slides down an inclined slipway, usually stern first. With the side launch, the ship enters the water broadside. The third method is float-out, used for ships that are built in basins or dry docks and then floated by admitting water into the dock. In all cases, heavy chains are attached to the ship and the drag effect is used to slow the vessel once afloat, until tugboats can move the hull to a jetty for fitting out. Moving a Small Reef Tank Aquarium across town

11:18
Only in Idaho - We moved across town in Boise this Spring. Of course the most important thing in one's household is the family aquarium. In this Video I demonstrate tearing down a 37 Gallon bow front mini-reef and successfully deliver the fish and critters to their new home. See Nemo, Hercules and Herb the Fox Face Rabbit Fish get uprooted, captured and moved. I should have mentioned that this took most of a day. The tank had been up and running at the original location since September of 2007. After almost 6 years it has a new home and looks fantastic!

For Flat Earth and the Open Minded ONLY: How Sea currents move

03:55
I'm sure people have had the same idea as me but I have seen no video's showing it. This may not be a big deal to you but if it interests one person, it would be worth it. Either a battery, ring magnet, electromagnetic pump or all three, I haven't seen this mentioned on a google search. I've tried multiple magnets, terminals, etc and with every different setup, the water moved a different way. Twisting the base would change it's timing and that's as far as I need go with this as it proves and electrical current can move water. I'm not saying this is how it works but could have something to do with it.

23 Cool Sculptures You Won't Believe Actually Exist

07:23
Which of these pieces did you find the most incredible? Let us know in the comments below. Subscribe to our channel for more amazing videos just like this, thanks for watching! 15 - Cinderella Effect… Hungary is where you will find The Shoes, there are on the Danube Bank in Budapest. It was the idea of Can Togay, a film director and sculpted by Gyula Pauer – and was placed there to honour the Jews who were killed in WW2. Fascist Arrow Cross Militiamen told them to remove their shoes, and they were shot at the water’s edge. 14 - The world in her hands… This is a series of sculptures called Force of Nature, created by Lorenzo Quinn. There are several of these statures around the globe, and they all depict women holding the earth in some way. You can find them in the US, UK, Singapore and Monaco. 13 - Just hanging out… This statue is found in Prague, and it’s called Man Hanging Out. The statue is actually of Sigmund Freud, and was created in 1996 by David Cerny, a Czech Sculptor. It’s meant to indicate Intellectualism during the 20th century, and David Cerny’s unsureness about it. 12 - Relaxing in the tub… That is literally the biggest bath in the world, and work is called The Bather, or Die Badende in German. Artist, Oliver Voss, created this sculptor using foam and steel, and it was 13 feet high and about 99 feet long. It was in the Binnenalster Lake in Hamburg for 10 days. 11 - Creativity Takes Courage… And David Cerny, whom we mentioned earlier, has many very controversial pieces of art around the world. This one is much tamer, and called Metalmorphosis. It’s in North Carolina and there are 40 steel pieces, grouped together into 7 segments – which rotate 360 degrees, whilst spitting water out into the lake. 10 - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle… This beautiful Sea Horse was created by Jeffro Uitto, who collected the pieces of drift wood, and affirms that no live trees were hurt during his art process. His business is called Knock on Wood, and he is from Washington. 9 - Breaking through… Passer Through Walls is a statue found in Paris, which is based upon a character written by Marcel Ayme. The character realizes that he can walk through walls, so begins a life of crime and adultery. During his last escapade, the magic stops – and he gets trapped inside the wall. 8 - It always seems impossible, until its done… That is one of the most famous Nelson Mandela Quotes, and this incredible structure was designed by South African artist, Marco Cianfanelli. It was created to celebrate the 50-year Anniversary of Mandela’s imprisonment by Apartheid police in 1962. There are 50 columns for each year, and it’s placed in Howick where the arrest too place. You have to see it from the right angle, to see the face of Mandela. 7 - Letting Go… There is something so ethereal about these wire sculptures created by Robin Wright, a UK Based artist. They are of fairies dancing in the wind, and some are very small and others life-like. They are formed in dramatic poses, and all have dandelions or a part of nature with them. 6 - The Power of Books… It’s incredible how art can be created from anything, and this amazing sculptor was put together by Mike Stilkey. He uses old books that are going to be recycled and creates these beautiful pieces with colored pencils, ink, lacquer and paint. 5 - Perfection Takes Time… This installation is known as the Kelpies, and too Andy Scott 8 years to put together. They are 100 feet tall, and the inspiration behind them is the legend of a water spirit that takes the shape of horses. The sculptors are the entrance to the Forth and Clyde canal in Scotland. 4 - Art that moves you… Anthony Howe is the creator of some incredible abstract and kinetic structures. He uses metal and polymers to create some of the most exquisite mobile art in the world. Some structures are as tall as 25-feet high, and they are pretty mesmerizing to watch. 3 - Who dares wake me from slumber? You can sort of hear this giant yelling that from beneath the grass, can’t you? This giant man is called, and I translate – Ripped Up or Popped up. It’s the creation of Hungarian artist, Ervin Loranth Herve, and was a temporary installation at Budapest’s Szechnyi Square for a special art market fair that took place. 2 - Are you brave enough? One of Lithuania’s most celebrated statues, is the Black Ghost found in Klaipeda. Visit this statue on a dreary rainy day, and it will leave you a bit spooked for the rest of the day. Legend says if you befriend the statue, you will have fortune and riches to follow. 1 - Follow your art… As I said earlier – it’s amazing what people use to create art. Maurizio Savini uses chewing gum to create some very realistic sculptures, but he really doesn’t like it when people ask him if he chewed every piece! He has t assistants that melt the gum down, ready for his creative use.
