Inner Strength Pilates Studio has helped Paul immensely with his posture and sporting injuries; especially his shoulder, hamstring and lower back injuries. Here is what our client has said about our Adelaide Pilates Studio Classes... "So I've been doing Pilates for about 10 weeks and I come three time a week because I injured myself playing sport. I hurt my shoulder and my hamstring. I dislocated my shoulder playing football and at the end of last season I hurt my hamstring as well. My hamstring wasn't that serious but my shoulder was quite serious. I wanted to fix one, my shoulder a lot and I wanted to stop my hamstring from getting any worse. So I started Pilates mostly because I play a lot of sports. I play Aus Tag, which is a form of rugby, and I play AFL football and I swim. I don't have a car so I ride a bike everywhere. I'm pretty much involved in as many sports that I can find so it's pretty important to get myself better. Pretty much all of those things either involve a hamstring or a shoulder at one point so now I think it's really helped. It means I can actually play them all without having fear that I'm going to injure myself and not be able to play at all afterwards. Since I've started I think it's improving a lot faster than I thought it would. I just feel a lot more like my shoulder won't dislocate at the drop of a hat and I was starting to get lower back pain beforehand but I don't have that at all really now. And I can ride my bike and everything's fine. When I first started Pilates I didn't really realise that my posture was actually quite bad and that's probably the reason why I had a lot of pain in my lower back, in my hamstring and maybe even my ankles are not the best but now it's really helped and I concentrate on it a lot more and I don't have any of those pains because of it. I come to Pilates here on King William Road because it's close to where I live but I also don't really like gyms per se. I don't like the idea of sitting around lifting weights and that sort of thing. It's much more about rehabilitation and all the instructors here are really good. It's close to one-on-one as opposed to like one-on-40 or whatever it would be in a gym, so you feel like you're actually getting some instruction here as opposed to just free for all. It's good. If someone was thinking about coming to Pilates I'd tell you stop thinking and probably just come do it because it took me a few years, yeah, probably two years to actually come and do it and I probably should have done it two years ago, immediately after injury. Probably one of the reasons I didn't start Pilates immediately was I did think initially that it would be me and 15 pregnant women or something just doing stretches on a ball but it's not at all that. There's a fair bit of weights training and there's a fair bit of strengthening and that sort of thing so it's definitely a fair workout. Yeah, it's a lot harder than I thought it would be but not in a bad way but in a good way.
