Benefits of Recycling | Turn Old to New Products

01:53
Recycling is the process in which waste materials can be converted and put to use. It is a key component of modern waste management. Materials like glass, plastic, metal, textiles and electronics can be recycled. Waste materials are sorted, cleaned and reprocessed into new materials. It Eases the Manufacturing Process Manufacturing plastic, newspapers and aluminium cans are difficult. If you recycle used products, you can reduce the cost involved in manufacturing. Cost of labour and electricity can be cut down considerably. Amount of waste generated reduces considerably. It's Environment-Friendly Recycling reduces the amount of trash which is disposed of in landfills. Dumping waste in landfills can lead to increased carbon dioxide emission. Purchasing recycled products not only helps reduce cost but also helps save the environment. The energy required to produce recycled paper is less. It Saves Resources Recycling used materials can help manufacturers save a tonne of resources. If used products are not recycled they result in faster depletion of natural resources. The energy used in extracting raw materials can be conserved. It Reduces Incineration Recycled materials can be easily reprocessed to new products. Therefore, the amount of rubbish sent to be incinerated reduces significantly. Burning rubbish creates ash which is difficult to dispose of. The process of incarceration involves the use of fossil fuels which are expensive. Apple have unveiled a new robotic system capable of taking apart junked iPhones in order to recover recyclable materials. Lisa Jackson, Apple's Vice President of Environment: "Let me introduce you to a pretty cool R&D project. We call him Liam." Liam, which has been under development for nearly three years and started operating at full capacity last month, will initially focus on the iPhone 6. According to Apple it can dismantel one iPhone 6 every 11 seconds. At that rate and working uninterrupted, Liam can handle no more than a few million phones per year, a small fraction of the more than 231 million iPhones sold in 2015. An environmentally friendly process: plastics recycling at mtm plastics

04:26
mtm can currently process up to 75,000 tons of input product a year. We obtain our base material from various sources. In the procurement of our raw materials, we focus on plastic waste from pure, high-quality plastics. These is made up of used polyethylene and polypropylene packaging with only a very short service life behind it, and plastics from household bulk waste collections, commercial waste and industrial scrap. Because the plastic packaging waste that has only been in service for a very short time is, after processing by us into recyclate, subsequently turned into high-quality, long-lasting products by our customers, we prefer to speak of "upcycling" rather than "recycling". mtm processes polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) plastics from - pre-sorted plastic blends - commercial and industrial waste - bulk waste collections - household waste collections

What Is Recycling - 7 Benefits of Recycling

04:49
Originally published as an article at http://www.pacebutler.com/blog/, "What is Recycling" is an essay on recycling and its benefits to individuals, society, and the environment. ------------ What is Recycling - 7 Benefits of Recycling A video presentation by Pacebutler Corporation - http://www.pacebutler.com, America's premier buyer of used cell phones. 110 years after the first recycling facility was established in New York, the United States today has one of the highest recycling rates in the world. US recycling rate from 1960-2008, graph shows the huge surge in popularity of recycling in the US, in the last 50 years. Still, 55 percent of the total solid waste (250 million tons) generated in this country end up in our landfills. What is recycling? Whenever we try and define recycling, we need to think of the three r's of modern waste management: reduce, reuse, recycle. "Reduce" means: Decreasing unnecessary and wasteful purchases, decreasing the volume of waste, and decreasing pollutants. "Reuse" means taking care of our things so that they can last longer, repurposing used items, donating or giving away unwanted stuff, and upcycling waste materials. Buy Recycled: products made from recycled materials to complete the cycle or close the recycling loop. It's not recycling if no one buys or makes use of the end (recycled) product. Recycling is a PROCESS, which includes: the Collection and Segregation of waste materials, the Processing and Remanufacturing of these materials, and the purchase and use of the recycled product. Recycling benefits you, society, and the environment. The 7 Benefits of Recycling are: Financial Benefit, Conservation of Resources, Energy savings, Community Building, Jobs creation, Strong economy, and Environmental Protection. Tangible financial benefits include people gaining income from selling recyclables or unwanted items from home and the savings that cities and counties make when landfill costs are reduced due to recycling. Resources Conservation: Throwing away a single aluminum can, versus recycling it, is like pouring out six ounces of gasoline. Last year, Americans recycled enough aluminum cans to conserve the energy equivalent to more than 15 million barrels of oil. 1 million tons of steel recycled saves 1.3 million tons of iron ore, 718,000 tons of coal, and 62,000 tons of limestone. Recycling Saves Energy: It requires more energy to manufacture a brand new aluminum can than it does to recycle 20 aluminum cans. Recycling Builds Community: People work together, Communicate, Share ideas, and Support each other when they're involved in a worthy common endeavor like recycling. Recycling Creates Jobs: 10,000 tons of waste when incinerated, creates 1 job; when landfilled, creates 6 jobs; when recycled, creates 36 jobs! Recycling helps build a strong Economy in terms of: Lower waste management costs, Cheaper production materials, Energy Savings, and Jobs Creation. Recycling helps protect the Environment: Reduced contamination risk from landfills, Reduced pollution, Reduced environmental impact from mining or extracting fresh raw materials are all direct results of recycling. Clean Air: 82 million tons of waste recycled in 2006 is equivalent to taking 39 million cars off the road for one full year! What is recycling? Recycling is a choice: The plastic bottle, paper scrap, or used cell phone wont recycle itselfIts up to YOU to make that choice to recycle. Recycling is a way of life: Once you make the choice to recycle, And stick to that choice everydayRecycling becomes second nature a way of life. Lets all recycle today Originally published at: http://www.pacebutler.com/blog/what-is-recycling-7-reasons-why-we-should/ Images appearing in this video courtesy of: Frame 2 mred-trucks.blogspot.com Frame 4 recycleraccoon.wordpress.com Frame 5 tts-group.co.uk Frame 6 packagingsource.com Frame 7 climate.nasa.gov Frame 8 uoregon.edu Frame 9 your.kingcounty.gov Frame 10 opsus.com Frame 11 life123.com Frame 13 greengta.ca/ Frame 14 ngoilgasmena.com Frame 15 china-unions.com Frame 17 top-10-list.org Frame 18 zimbio.com Frame 19 emu.edu.tr Frame 20 freedigitalphotos.net Frame 21 therentables.com Frame 22 hackney.gov.uk Frame 23 campusadv.com Frame 24 paulbuckley14059.wordpress.com

best out of waste crafts idea of medecine wrapper | Artkala 353 This article is about recycling of waste materials. For recycling of waste energy, see Energy recycling. The three chasing arrows of the international recycling logo Recycling is the process of converting waste materials into new materials and objects. It is an alternative to "conventional" waste disposal that can save material and help lower greenhouse gas emissions (compared to plastic production,[1][2] for example). Recycling can prevent the waste of potentially useful materials and reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, thereby reducing: energy usage, air pollution (from incineration), and water pollution (from landfilling). Recycling is a key component of modern waste reduction and is the third component of the "Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle" waste hierarchy.. Waste tyre recycling plant manufacture and supplier company in india. unique renewable technology has come up with a concept of setting new standard in renewable energy, that includes using of waste tyres as a raw material and producing green fuel oil, carbon black, steel and gas. With global warming and utilization of rubber, it has now become necessary to recycle the waste and convert it in fuel oil in such a way that it is environment friendly. The Perfect Solution (Pyrolysis Process): Pyrolysis is the decomposition of organic compounds under oxygen free (anaerobic) atmosphere that produces gas, oil, carbon black and steel. Efficient industrial pyrolysis is a process to treat the rubber and industrial plastic wastage as well. As a result of pyrolysis of wastage tyres one obtains, FUEL OIL (42% to 45%) The main oil product produced by our recycling application is the fuel oil that is widely used for industrial and commercial purposes. The oil has 45% to 50% of the amount of recycled scrap tyres, which will be carried with licensed tanker trucks. CARBON BLACK (30% to 35%) Carbon Black is the main product recycled by Pyrolysis technology. The amount of recycled carbon black is 30% to 35% (depending on the type of tyres) of the total amount of scrap tyres recycled in the system. Carbon black is used as raw material or main ingredient in many industries and the chemical structure of carbon black strengthens, lengthens the endurance, and improves the coloring features of the materials. Carbon black produced by Pyrolysis process (CBP) is more economical compared to carbon black produced primarily from petroleum and is more price-efficient to be used as an ingredient in the industries listed; § Electric cable jacketing § Conveyor band § Carrier Bands § Hose and doormat § Black nylon bag, Plastic pipes § Rubber additive § Automotive spare parts § Black colorant in rubber materials § Industrial rubber products § Fire fighting STEEL WIRE (10% to 15%) Tyres contain steel wires and the amount ranges from 10% to 15% of the total tyre wastage. All of the steel present in the tyre can be detached after the Pyrolysis recycling process is completed. Valuable steel wires are pressed and sold to steel and scrap dealers. GAS (5% to 8%) Non-Condensable gases arise during the pyrolysis process. There are some advantages such as….. § It has higher calorific value as compared to natural gas. § It can be replaced where natural gas and propane are stored. § The high energy gas may be utilized as a source of energy for the Pyrolysis process. § The amount of gas generated in the system is 5% to 8% of the total amount of recycled tyres and considering the 10 ton scrap tyre/day recycling capacity, the facility generates 500 - 800 m³/day gas, which has an enormous energy potential when evaluated

The next generation in food waste recycling - WasteStation from IMC

05:33
Food waste is a major problem for any organisation that produces it. It's notoriously difficult to process and dispose of safely and efficiently and is the most likely waste stream to contaminate other waste fractions. Most waste streams are relatively easy to recycle. Glass, plastic, aluminium and even metals can be recycled into useful by-products. But not so food waste. By utilising IMC's WasteStation food waste processor, many of these problems are removed or reduced leading to large savings in many areas. Food waste typically represents around 40% of total commercial catering waste. Of this 40%, approximately 77% is liquid. WasteStation grinds the food waste into fine particles, these particles feed directly into the built-in dewatering system. Through centrifugal action, the WasteStation forces out the excess liquid from the macerated waste. This "grey water" is fed directly to drain, the resulting solid fraction of the food waste is collected in small, easily managed, lidded bins, ready for onward processing.

PVC Recycling Process Explained

01:45
PVC (polyvinyl chloride), also known as 'vinyl' is one of the most commonly used thermoplastics. Made of oil and salt, PVC is an affordable and versatile material that requires minimal maintenance when in use and is extremely durable (it is commonly used to make long-lasting products, often with a life-expectancy exceeding 60 years). And when PVC products come to the end of their life, its unique polymer structure makes it well-suited for recycling. PVC compounds are 100% recyclable physically, chemically or energetically. This video shows the mechanical recycling process for PVC. The main steps are: separation, grinding, washing and treatment to eliminate impurities. The end results is a granulated/powder recyclate which can be used into new PVC products.

How waste recycling helps our planet - Zero to Landfill

10:50
Find out more about commercial waste recycling in Devon at http://www.dcw.co.uk Twitter - http://twitter.com/dcw_uk Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/pages/Devon-Contract-Waste TRANSCRIPT Up until now businesses have had to sort all their rubbish for recycling but many didn't have the time, which is why much of it ended up in landfill. However, help is now at hand! In Exeter, there is a place called Envirohub, which is the base for Devon Contract Waste. This company has started a 'Zero to Landfill' campaign because they would like to see everything recycled so landfill wouldn't be needed anymore. To help with this, they have spent over four million pounds on a fantastic new waste sorting machine which means businesses won't have to sort their rubbish anymore. This machine is huge: it's over ten metres high, covers the same area as one football pitches and it can sort up to 300 tonnes of rubbish per day -- that's the same weight as thirty seven and a half full size elephants. So how does it work? Let's go and see it in action! Rubbish arrives at Envirohub from all around the county in dustcarts, front-loaders and wheelie bins, where it is all emptied out on the floor. Then it is lifted by this mechanical grabber and dumped into the hopper where it is shredded down into smaller pieces. From the shredder, the rubbish goes up this belt to a big drum called a trommel screen. This tumbles the rubbish to remove all the soil and dust which gets turned into a fuel called Refuse-Derived Fuel product -- or RDF for short. Nothing gets wasted here!Everything else continues on to here. This is called a ballistic separator and it walks everything upwards, but only the flat material makes it to the top. The three dimensional items can't manage the climb and fall back onto another line below. The flat stuff now falls onto a belt which goes under the first optical sorter. This is a line of small cameras that can recognise the different types of rubbish. This one is set to 'see' soft plastic film and when it sees some approaching, it triggers a jet of air which hits the item as it crosses the end of the belt, blowing it on to another belt behind. It's very fast but watch closely and you'll see the plastic flying off. That's amazing! This rubbish left on the belt drops down to another below. It then passes the second optical sorter, which is set to 'see' all paper and card products. It's very important that nothing else gets through so just to make doubly sure there are two people inspecting it. Remember the 3D stuff that didn't make it to the top of the line earlier? Let's go and see what happened to it. Here it is, going past a very powerful magnet which attracts all ferrous metal -- that's metals like iron and steel which are magnetic. Everything else won't be attracted by the magnet so goes on to this eddy current machine which removes all non-ferrous metals such as aluminium -- things like drink cans. All the metals are collected in the skips below. The non-metallic material left on the belt then goes twice past another optical sorter. The first time it puts all plastic on one side and the second time it puts all paper and card on the other. Anything left over will also go into the fuel product or RDF we mentioned before. Under the machine are all these bays where the different materials end up. The contents are eventually baled and wrapped like this ready to be transported. What an amazing machine! So where does it all go? The metal will be sent to be melted down so it can be made into other metal products. Paper will be recycled into tissue such as toilet roll and hand towels. Plastics are recycled into new products; some obvious ones such as carrier bags and bin liners, but also fleeces, umbrellas, children's toys and even car bumpers. Card is generally shipped to China for recycling. This goes on ships that have delivered products from China into the UK, and need to return anyway, so it is reasonably environmentally friendly.

How to Start waste tyre recycling latest

10:54
Pyrolysis process • Pyrolysis is the chemical decomposition of organic materials by heating in the absence of oxygen or any other reagents, except possibly steam. • Pyrolysis can be used to reprocess the tyres into fuel oil, fuel gas, solid residue (steel wire) and carbon black. • The waste tyres are mainly composed of long chain of C-H molecules. • Under normal process conditions the heat transfer will be done by radiation. • The technology of pyrolysis, cracking, and monomerisation of used tyres is always a hot topic.  Tyre pyrolysis End-of-life tyres contain a lot of chemical bound energy. As a result of pyrolysis of waste tyres one obtains: high-energy gas, Pyrolysis oils, carbon black and steel wire. The ratios of the first three products depend on process conditions, mainly on temperature. • The pyrolysis method for recycling used tyres is a technique, which heats whole or shredded tyres in a reactor vessel containing an oxygen free atmosphere and a heat source. • In the reactor the rubber is softened after which the rubber polymers continuously breakdown into smaller molecules. • These smaller molecules eventually vaporize and exit from the reactor. • These vapors can be burned directly to produce power or condensed into an oily type liquid, generally used as a fuel. • Some molecules are too small to condense. They remain as a gas, which can be burned as fuel. • The minerals that were part of the tyre, about 40 to 45 % by weight, are removed as a solid. • When performed well a tyre pyrolysis process is a very clean operation and has nearly no emissions or waste. • The properties of the gas, liquid and solid output are determined by the type of feedstock used and the process conditions. • For instance, whole tyres contain fibers and steel. Shredded tyres have most of the steel and sometimes most of the fiber removed. • Batch wise Process is done by tyre pyrolysis. • The steel can be removed from the solid stream with magnets for recycling. The remaining solid material often referred to as "charcoal". 5  Variety of polymer waste material is suitable as a raw material. Given below is the list of suitable raw materials for pyrolysis:  Waste tyres  Rubber or rubber parts from vehicles  Electronic scrap  Mixed (HDPE, LDPE, PE, PP, Nylon, Teflon, PS,ABS,FRP etc)  Multi layered  Plastic disposable bottle • The choice of feedstock and process (mainly operating temperature) can affect the value of the finished products.  Input-output ratio of waste tyre Type of Material Total Quantity Finish quantity Nylon scrap tyres 1000 kgs -550 to 600 liter of Pyrolysis oil -50 to 80 kg of Hydrocarbon Gas -300 to 350 kg of Carbon Black Radial scrap tyres 1000 kgs -400 to 450 of Pyrolysis oil -50 to 80 kg of Hydrocarbon Gas -300 to 350 kg of Carbon Black -150 to 200 kgs of Mild steel tyre scrap  Yield of pyrolysis process: H Pyrolysis oil (Fuel oil – 40 to 45%) • The essential product of tyre pyrolysis process is pyrolysis oil referred as fuel oil (40 to 45 % of total quantity feed) which is used as a fuel component for heating in fire chamber. Pyrolysis oil has flash Point between 60 to 93.3 °C. • Purest quality of pyrolysis oil comparable to industrial diesel: selling price comparable to industrial diesel LDO( light diesel oil) H Carbon Black(30 to 35%) • The vital product of pyrolysis plant is carbon black referred as "charcoal"(30 to 35% of total quantity feed).carbon black has Industrial and commercial use. H Steel wire(15 to 20%) • For instance, whole tyres contain fibers and steel. Shredded tyres have most of the steel and sometimes most of the fiber removed. • The steel wire(15 to 20%) can be removed from the carbon black with magnets for recycling after pyrolysis process & sold to the steel dealer H Hydrocarbon Gas(5 to 8%) • The smaller molecules eventually vaporize and exit from the reactor. These vapors can be burned directly to produce power or condensed into an oily type liquid, generally used as a fuel. Some molecules are too small to condense. They remain as a gas (5 to 8% of total quantity feed) which can be burned as fuel. H Advantages of pyrolysis plants • Purest quality of pyrolysis oil as finished product. • Use of green technology to achieve environment friendly processes. • Automatic safely valve (pressure and temperature valve) use to improve safely, profitability & ease of operation. • Industry is energy self-sufficient. • No external fuel required for heating. H Benefits of pyrolysis plant • Recover energy and value from waste in form of fuel, steel wire and charcoal. • Reduce tyre land pollution. • Eco-friendly recycling of tyre. • Commercially viable process. • Product is used as substitute to LDO/furnace oil. • Perfect solution for polymer waste management. • Raw material available.

RENEW - REcycling Nation's Electronic Waste

02:25
E-waste contains toxic substances and its improper disposal can lead to serious pollution and health problems. Rapid changes in technology, shorter life-cycles before a product is obsolete, changes in media (tapes, software, MP3) and falling prices have resulted in a fast-growing surplus of electronic waste around the globe. Yet there are very few avenues for individual consumers to recycle their e-waste. That is why in 2012, as a corporate citizen that is firmly committed to environmental sustainability and a provider of electronic services and products, StarHub initiated a massive consumer-oriented environmental programme, to provide consumers with avenues to responsibly dispose of their electronic products. We partnered with home-grown e-waste recycler TES-AMM to launch the StarHub E-Waste Recycling Programme on 31 March 2012, Earth Hour. The five bins, located at our Customer Service Centres and one other location in town, collected over one tonne of e-waste within five months. Buoyed by the success and with the aim of making e-waste more convenient by providing more locations of recycling, StarHub increased the number of e-waste recycling bin sites in August 2012 to include condominiums and schools around Singapore, a Community Club and even the Environment Building. In August 2014, there were 30 bin locations island-wide, but more could be done. DHL, StarHub and TES-AMM all believe in being environmentally responsible corporate citizens. In line with the Singaporean Government’s People-Public-Private approach to tackling environmental issues, the three organisations decided to join forces, with the support of the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources and National Environment Agency, to provide even more opportunities for the public to recycle their e-waste. On 16 September 2014, an MOU was signed between DHL, StarHub and TES-AMM to expand the programme as RENEW, short for REcycling Nation’s Electronic Waste. The MOU signing was witnessed by Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, at The Environment Building. StarHub sources for locations interested in having a RENEW bin, and engages a supplier to produce and provide bins to these locations. DHL manages the logistics of collecting and delivering the e-waste from all the bins to TES-AMM’s e-waste recycling facility. TES-AMM then recycles the e-waste. To date, over 14.8 tonnes of electronic waste have been collected for recycling. You can recycle almost any electronic product in the RENEW bins. You do not have to be a DHL, StarHub or TES-AMM customer or even have purchased the product from StarHub. However, all recycled items must be able to fit through the bin's 470mm x 120mm slot. Here are some items you can recycle in the RENEW bins: answering machines, cables, car stereos, computer mice, CDs/ DVDs, docking stations, CD/ DVD/ VCD players, electronic toys, hard drives, keyboards, laptops, lithium-ion (Li-on) batteries, mobile phones, modems, MP3 players, printed circuit boards, printers, remote controls, routers, set-top boxes, telephones, VCRs and wires. Check out www.starhub.com/RENEW for more information.
