Large Volume Production system to prepare ARD data and integration with the Open Data Cube
Large Volume Production system to prepare ARD data and integration with the Open Data Cube--Initial lessons learned from deforestation monitoring case study in Canada Presented by Guillaume Morin, Project Manager at PCI Geomatics The ARD and STAC interoperability workshop, which took place on August 13 - 15 at the USGS Menlo Park Campus, was dedicated to discussing interoperability between commercial data sources of imagery and public datasets. In particular, we presenting different approaches to data harmonization with an emphasis on determining standard approaches and practical recommendations on standards for Analytics Ready Data. The workshop was open to technical staff in commercial EO data providers, government agencies like USGS, NASA and ESA - as well as data analytics providers and NGOs. The workshop was also run in parallel with the third SpatioTemporal Asset Catalog (STAC) sprint, as STAC aims to be the default interface to share Analysis Ready Data. This was recorded at a Federal Government facility and does not necessarily represent the views of the USGS nor should it imply endorsement by the USGS or Federal Government.
Understanding and unlocking the value of data in hybrid enterprise data lake environments
With the convergence of cloud, IoT, and big data technologies, data lakes are becoming the critical fuel for enterprise-wide digital transformations. Enterprises increasingly have their data spread across multiple data lakes in many geographies and across multiple cloud platforms, for example, due to regulatory and compliance mandates that limit cross-border data transfer such as GDPR. With the proliferation of data types and sources in this complex landscape, the process of discovery, organization, and curation of data has become extremely expensive. Additionally, gaining global visibility into the business context, usage, and trustworthiness of data requires a centralized view of all data and metadata, security controls, data access, and monitoring. All of these challenges create a significant chasm between initial data capture and subsequent data insights generation to drive value creation. Providing adequate stewardship with the right set of rules and policies around data security and privacy as well as rational policy enforcement across the information supply chain is critical to adoption of modern data lake architectures and value creation. Therefore, enterprises now require a “global insight fabric” that can find a happy medium between adequate rules and policies of data governance while providing a trusted environment for users to collaborate and share data responsibly in order to create value. We recently launched 100% open source Hortonworks Data Steward Studio (DSS) service that can help enterprises address these challenges and move them closer to realizing the vision of a global insight fabric. In this talk, we will outline how data stewards, analysts, and data engineers can better understand their data assets across multiple data lakes at scale using DISCOVER approach with DSS: Detect: Find where important data assets are located Inventory: Locate and catalog all data globally Secure: Protect data assets and monitor their access and usage Collaborate: Crowdsource and leverage knowledge across the enterprise Organize: Curate and group data based on different characteristics Verify: Understand sources and complete chain of custody for all data (lineage and impact) Enrich: Add classifications and annotations Report: Create and view multiple dashboards, reports, and summarizations of data We will showcase how DSS empowers enterprises to precisely identify and evaluate trust levels of their data, to securely collaborate, and to confidently democratize data across the enterprise in order to derive value from the data in their data lakes – whether these data lakes are located in on-premise data centers or in the cloud or across multiple cloud provider environments.

sql excel decimal value part 2
The table is now empty I will first upload data from excel using only the sqloledb connection provider and ado recordset commands and as the table contains decimal data type among text, integers and null values as well the results will show that all decimal numbers have changed. So unlike with other database, this method is not reliable unless can tell if I'm doing something wrong somewhere. The table is now empty I will then upload this data using a dedicated workbook that will shift decimal before they are sent to the database table and shift down when they are in the database table. This workbook provides additional checks, it can detect automatically decimal and do operations or it can work in a manual way when there are many columns, the macro will be slow to run, then columns with a yellow background will be automatically shift to integer values. What's also nice with this workbook is that it's independant from Windows regional settings as these might differ between the spreadsheet, the macro ide (vba) and sql server itself. It is often a pain to understand something is not working at this level. What's left to do to be complete would be about dates since it's not only a matter of a regional symbol, they can differ in their meaning and lead nowhere sometimes without being detected. VBA can take care of dates in multiple ways, I will look for something that has already been done that could be apply. Unlike with decimal where I look in many website and could never find an appropriate answer, so I decided to build my own tool. Now, the data I want to copy (without dates for now) just need to be on a spreadsheet, copy the right table name and database infos, click the button and the data is copied in an easy and reliable way. To conclude, VBA can arrange the data but can also make a spreadsheet as a front end database interface. How come Microsoft hasn't thought about this in the first place, SQLOLEDB, the changes should apply in a few dll in C or C++, that shouldn't be too many changes??? Unless there are side effects with other .Net components, who can tell?

The startup that makes your startup look cool: Small Empires Ep. 7
Sandwich has become the most sought-after producer of videos for tech companies large and small. Subscribe: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=theverge Building and launching an app is actually cheaper and easier than ever. With free tutorials and open source toolkits, the barrier to entry is low. Much of the complex backend work can be offloaded to big providers like Amazon or Facebook, who handle cloud storage or identity. Getting people to actually notice your company among the throng of new startups launching every day, however, is very tough. Unless you're featured in an app store or make it into the top 10, it can be difficult to find your initial traction. That's where a viral video comes in. Sandwich is a video production company that has found the perfect tone for the moment. Dry, self-deprecating, and hilarious, while simultaneously conveying lots of information and a sense of cool that comes from being a part of the near future. We've covered many of the companies they crafted videos for, from Casper to Coin to Push For Pizza. The company is taking a unique approach to working with startups, many of whom don't have the cash on hand to afford a slick, professionally produced video. They are accepting equity in the young businesses that they work with, and they're sometimes negotiating a revenue share. That gives Sandwich the same kind of upside that a venture capitalist might enjoy if the startup they are working with becomes the next rocket ship headed for an IPO. Powerful Nutrition From “Seed to Feed” | Herbalife
Every single Herbalife product is held to the highest standard during each step of the manufacturing process. From concept to feasibility and prototype to final formula, Herbalife monitors and influences its products to guarantee quality. Conceptualization of a product begins with Herbalife’s unique understanding of the market place and nutritional science. Using scientific discoveries and market trends found by Herbalife field researchers, Herbalife manufactures the products consumers want and need. Once Herbalife identifies the products consumers desire, the most up-to-date science is put into action. The science is composed from the knowledge of a team of doctors, scientists and nutritionists who work with vendors to begin developing the initial stages of an Herbalife product. Next, Herbalife regulatory teams review the product formulas to assure they’re free of any globally or regionally constricted material. Herbalife only wants to use the finest ingredients from trusted sources. Global Manufacturing Footprint From tea fields in China to aloe fields in Mexico to soybean fields in US, Herbalife uses the finest ingredients from around the world to develop outstanding products. Each ingredient must meet strict specifications. In fact, potential Herbalife ingredient providers go through a rigorous screening process that could take up to a year and a half. And once a reliable source is found, the ingredient goes through an in-house analysis to make sure it meets high standards set by Herbalife. Whether in China or Italy or Brazil, contract manufacturers go through strict quality assurance practices to ensure product meets Herbalife’s rigorous standards. Currently, Herbalife has four functioning manufacturing facilities along with two trusted contract manufacturers. Combined, the manufacturing centers span over four continents and make it possible for Herbalife to meet worldwide demand. “Innovation and Manufacturing” Aside from collaboration with trusted manufacturers across the globe, Herbalife has an initiative to bring production of its core products in-house. This approach, called Herbalife Innovation and Manufacturing enhances quality control and the ability to increase the production of Herbalife signature goods as well as some specialty products. The first Herbalife Innovation and Manufacturing facility (or H.I.M.) was built in Suzhou, China to produce teas, shakes, tablets and capsules. In 2009, another HIM was established in Lake Forest, California A third HIM facility opened in Shangsha, China in 2012. There, key botanical ingredients—herbal extracts like orange pekoe tea and green tea concentrates—are extracted. At over 46,000 square meters (roughly the size of 6-and-a-half American football fields), the Winston-Salem HIM is set to become the highest output Herbalife manufacturing plant where core products like Herbalife Formula 1 Nutritional Shake Mix, herbal tea concentrates, personalized protein powder, and liquid aloe concentrates will be manufactured. Winston-Salem HIM also includes a Quality Control Center of Excellence Lab where physical, chemical, and microbiological testing takes place. Even after Herbalife products are made, labeled, and packed—Herbalife continues to monitor the environment in which said goods are stored. Temperatures are carefully monitored once the products are shipped. And each carefully selected and rigorously approved ingredient is listed on every single product. Product Accessibility Herbalife has a robust supply chain consisting of 700 product access point locations, spanning over ninety countries, to bring you great quality products. Even after products are delivered to consumers, Herbalife has industry-leading approaches to track any possible product complaints and incidents. This data enables Herbalife to satisfy customers and be aware of any potential area with room for improvements. Herbalife provides excellent customer care to hear what consumers and clients have to say about Herbalife products. Herbalife wants to always make sure the consumer is satisfied with the product, especially once the consumer has received the goods. Independent Herbalife Members educate and motivate consumers to help them reach their goals and further satisfy customers from all over the world. Data Harmonization of INSPIRE Datasets Within 'Spatial NI™
Land & Property Services Northern Ireland (LPS) is currently setting up the technical component of their SDI (Spatial NI™). The aims of Spatial NI are to meet both the demands of the local Northern Ireland Geographic Information Strategy and INSPIRE by providing a one stop shop for data sharing. The creation of the portal significantly raises the technical platform of spatial data services in Northern Ireland; it will assist in driving standards and transparency in data set availability in Northern Ireland. Its use of web services will open up key datasets and widen access to both UK and Irish data through metadata catalogue linkages with data.gov.uk and the Irish metadata catalogue. The portal will provide a cost effective solution for Northern Ireland data providers and publishers by providing a centralised service for metadata creation, publication of web services, licensing and transformation. LPS plan to work in partnership with all NI data publishers to fulfil the INSPIRE requirements of transforming data to the INSPIRE defined schemas through the centralised system. This presentation details the initial steps taken in harmonising and processing some datasets from both Land & Property Services and the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA). The LPS datasets used were Cadastral Parcels, Addresses, Geographical Names and Administrative Units with Protected Sites being provided by the NIEA. The harmonization process deals with the key aspect of INSPIRE, the data. The harmonization requires domain and technical experts to work together and a good understanding of the INSPIRE data specifications. The services hosted at LPS require the data to be transformed into a relational database implementation of the INSPIRE Data models. This presentation describes the solution used, the tools as well as the general approach. It aims to give some insight into the mapping process that was performed in a joint workshop with domain experts and data harmonization experts. The 5 day workshop was enough time to create initial mappings of datasets from protected sites, cadastral parcels and addresses, which could be directly used for publishing INSPIRE View and Download Services, thereby fulfilling some of LPS's and NIEA's obligations in relation to INSPIRE. Ireland have also transformed their Protected Sites dataset into the INSPIRE schema which gives us our first cross border INSPIRE dataset. This opens the potential to realise the benefits of seamless cross border datasets in effective decision making and also to highlight any differences in interpretation at the local level of INSPIRE. by S. Connecting to a SQL Server Database with C#
Learn C#: http://learncsharp.org In this video you will learn how to connect to an already existing SQL Server database, read data from that database, and output that data to the console. This example could be leveraged across many platforms and is just one example of how data can be retrieved from a SQL Server database using C#. The idea behind my videos as http://learncsharp.org is to provide you with an experience where we are working together. I'm going to make mistakes, there are going to be bugs in my code, but it's much more like paired programming than a scripted tutorial. It's more realistic.

Create Multiple Pivot Table Reports with Show Report Filter Pages
Learn how to quickly create multiple pivot table reports with the Show Report Filter Pages feature. Download the file to follow along: https://www.excelcampus.com/pivot-tables/show-report-filter-pages/ Get the Tab Hound Add-in: https://www.excelcampus.com/tab-hound Pivot tables are an amazing tool for quickly summarizing data in Excel. They save us a TON of time with our everyday work. There is one "hidden" feature of pivot tables that can save us even more time. Sometimes we need to replicate a pivot table for each unique item in a field. This could be a report for: Each department in organization. Each salesperson on the sales team. Each account in the general ledger. Each customer in the CRM system. Each stock in the database. Or, just about any other field (column) in your data set. We could create one pivot table, filter it for a specific item, then copy the sheet and re-apply a filter for the next item. But this would take a lot of time if we have dozens or hundreds of unique items in the data set. Fortunately, we don't have to do all this manual work. Pivot tables have a feature called Show Report Filter Pages that automates this entire process. The Show Report Filter Pages Feature The Show Report Filter Pages feature: Creates a copy of an existing pivot table for each unique item in a field. The new pivot tables are created on individual worksheets. Each sheet is renamed to match the item name. A filter is applied to the field in the Filters Area of each pivot table for the item. All this is done with a click of a button. Your field can have 5 or 500 unique items. Show Report Filter Pages will create a sheet for each item and replicate the pivot table report.
