Unknown facts About African Fish Eagle||HD||
The African fish eagle (Haliaeetus vocifer),or to distinguish it from the true fish eagles (Ichthyophaga), the African sea eagle, is a large species of eaglefound throughout sub-Saharan Africa wherever large bodies of open water with an abundant food supply occur. It is the national bird of Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and South Sudan. As a result of its large range, it is known in many languages. Examples of names include: visarend in Afrikaans, nkwazi in Chewa, aigle pêcheur in French, hungwe in Shona, and inkwazi in isiZulu. This species may resemble the bald eagle in appearance; though related, each species occurs on different continents, with the bald eagle being resident in North America. The African fish eagle is a large bird, and the female, at 3.2–3.6 kg (7.1–7.9 lb) is larger than the male, at 2.0–2.5 kg (4.4–5.5 lb). This is typical sexual dimorphism in birds of prey. Males usually have wingspans around 2 m (6.6 ft), while females have wingspans of 2.4 m (7.9 ft). The body length is 63–75 cm (25–29.5 in). The adult is very distinctive in appearance with a mostly brown body with a white head like the bald eagle and large, powerful, black wings. The head, breast, and tail of African fish eagles are snow white, with the exception of the featherless face, which is yellow. The eyes are dark brown in colour. The hook-shaped beak, ideal for a carnivorous lifestyle, is yellow with a black tip. The plumage of the juvenile is brown in colour, and the eyes are paler compared to the adult. The feet have rough soles and are equipped with powerful talons to enable the eagle to grasp slippery aquatic prey. While this species mainly subsists on fish, it is opportunistic and may take a wider variety of prey such as waterbirds. Its distinctive cry is, for many, evocative of the spirit or essence of Africa. The call, shriller when uttered by males, is a weee-ah, hyo-hyo or a heee-ah, heeah-heeah. EAGLES hunting for fish. Sea Eagle. David Attenborough's opinion.
This is a clip from "RHYTHMS OF NATURE IN THE BARYCZ VALLEY" movie. This film tells the story about nature in the Barycz River valley and enormous Milicz ponds. This area is located in the south-western part of Poland (in the middle of Europe). I and my wife made it for 2 years. Sir David Attenborough, a world-famous BBC nature documentary film maker, after watching the film "Rhythms of Nature in the Barycz Valley" wrote: "I have viewed Rhythms of Nature with great pleasure. A lovely place, beautifully filmed" More: www.homan.pl

Pallas' Fish Eagle sitting on a tree and squealing away
Pallas's Fish Eagle (Haliaeetus leucoryphus), also known as Pallas's Sea Eagle or Band-Tailed Fish Eagle, is a large, brownish sea-eagle. It breeds in Central Asia, between the Caspian Sea and the Yellow Sea, from Kazakhstan and Mongolia to the Himalayas, Bangladesh and northern India. It is partially migratory, with central Asian birds wintering among the southern Asian birds in northern India, and also further west to the Persian Gulf. Pallas' fish eagle has pale brownish hood and black-and-white tail. Adult are easily recognised with its dark brown, warm buffish to whitish head, neck and upper mantle and blackish tail with broad, white central band. Juveniles are more uniformly dark, with all-dark tail, but in flight shows strongly patterned underwing, with whitish band across coverts and prominent, whitish primary flashes. Its diet consists primarily of large freshwater fish. They also regularly predate water birds, including adult Greylag Geese, by assaulting them on the surface of the water and then flying off with the kill. Since that goose species is slightly heavier than the eagle, this is one of the greatest weight-lifting feats ever recorded for a flying bird. The global population is said to have dwindled down based on detailed analysis of available records. This species has a small, declining population as a result of the widespread loss, degradation and disturbance of wetlands and breeding sites throughout its range. It therefore qualifies as Vulnerable. Key threats are habitat loss, degradation and disturbance. Across the Indian subcontinent, and probably most of its range, wetlands have been drained or converted for agriculture and human settlements. The felling of large trees near wetlands has reduced the availability of nest and roost sites. The spread of water hyacinth Eichhornia crassipes is a problem in India, as is the siltation of lakes due to catchment deforestation. Pollution of wetlands with pesticides and industrial effluents reduces breeding success. Habitat loss and degradation are compounded by disturbance of wetlands. Reductions in the prey base, primarily through hunting and over-fishing, are further consequences of increasing human pressure. In Myanmar, the development of oil and gas fields is a threat and, in China, hunting is a localised problem. In Mongolia, during surveys in summer 2009, it was noted that two recently completed hydroelectric dams were severely disrupting water levels in the affected drainage basins and could potentially affect all sites where the species occurs in the Great Lake Basin (Gilbert and Gombobataar 2009). Over-fishing was also noted at several sites and low rainfall was leading to falling water levels in some areas (Gilbert and Gombobataar 2009). Osprey Fish Eagle in Dallas Texas (Pandion haliaetus)
The Osprey (Pandion haliaetus), sometimes known as the fish eagle, sea hawk or fish hawk as seen on January 14, 2013 in Dallas Texas on the Dixon Branch of White Rock Creek. A rare sighting of this bird at this location near White Rock Lake. As its other common name suggests, the Osprey's diet consists almost exclusively of fish. It possesses specialized physical characteristics and exhibits unique behavior to assist in hunting and catching prey. It is a large raptor, reaching more than 60 cm (24 in) in length and 180 cm (71 in) across the wings. It is brown on the upper parts and predominantly greyish on the head and under parts, with a black eye patch and wings. The Osprey tolerates a wide variety of habitats, nesting in any location near a body of water providing an adequate food supply. It is found on all continents except Antarctica although in South America it occurs only as a non-breeding migrant

White Bellies Sea Eagle Cam ~ Lady Feeds SE21 Fish ~ None Left For SE22 8.22.18
It is another difficult day food wise at the nest. Dad has not at the nest again. There was an intruder juvenile WBSE in the area early this morning. Lady brought in a fish just before noon and both babies were ready for a feeding, but 22 went into automatic submissive mode while 21 ate the entire fish. Afterwards 22 got up and 21 showed dominance again & went after 22 till he went submissive again. It is difficult to watch when food is not as plentiful as it had been recently. However, there is still time for more food to be brought in to feed the eaglets. Thank you for watching!
