FRESH SEA FOOD - COX'S BAZAR - BANGLADESH

06:50
Cox’s Bazar is a town on the southeast coast of Bangladesh. It’s known for its very long, sandy beachfront, stretching from Sea Beach in the north to Kolatoli Beach in the south. Aggameda Khyang monastery is home to bronze statues and centuries-old Buddhist manuscripts. South of town, the tropical rainforest of Himchari National Park has waterfalls and many birds. North, sea turtles breed on nearby Sonadia Island. Cox's Bazar is one of the longest sea beaches in the world. It is the main tourist spot of Bangladesh. Sea lover tourists are crowded here all year round. Along with the local tourist, foreign tourists also come here. There is nothing too thick to enjoy the tourists here at night. But shopping and fresh sea food is still in place. At the Sugandha Point of the beach there are some fresh sea food shops. They sell various fresh sea fish, crab, octopus along the sea from the afternoon to the 10 in the night. The tourists enjoy these very much. 3 days ago we went to cox’s bazar. After enjoying the beach, we went to Cox's Bazar Fishery Ghat. After fishing from the sea, the fishermen bring the fish to sell in the early morning. Then came from the retailers to the tourists plates. I have made a short videos for you, We hope you will like.

Seawater, or salt water, is water from a sea or ocean. On average, seawater in the world's oceans has a salinity of about 3.5% (35 g/L, 599 mM). This means that every kilogram (roughly one liter by volume) of seawater has approximately 35 grams (1.2 oz) of dissolved salts (predominantly sodium (Na+ ) and chloride (Cl− ) ions). Average density at the surface is 1.025 kg/L. Seawater is denser than both fresh water and pure water (density 1.0 kg/L at 4 °C (39 °F)) because the dissolved salts increase the mass by a larger proportion than the volume. The freezing point of seawater decreases as salt concentration increases. At typical salinity, it freezes at about −2 °C (28 °F). The coldest seawater ever recorded (in a liquid state) was in 2010, in a stream under an Antarctic glacier, and measured −2.6 °C (27.3 °F).[2] Seawater pH is typically limited to a range between 7.5 and 8.4. However, there is no universally accepted reference pH-scale for seawater and the difference between measurements based on different reference scales may be up to 0.14 units videos & photos by: https://pixabay.com https://videos.pexels.com

How Bangladesh has adapted to climate change | The Economist

06:06
Bangladesh is highly susceptible to climate change. Floods, cyclones and droughts are likely to increase as the Earth warms. Poor farmers are already trying to adapt. Click here to subscribe to The Economist on YouTube: http://econ.st/2Hea5EK Melting glaciers, droughts, rising sea-levels - these are just some of the environmental disruptions that are likely to worsen with climate change. But dangerous climate change is not just something that might happen in the future. The earth is already warmed by almost 1 degree Celsius since the dawn of the Industrial Age - the effects are already being felt now. Vulnerable communities are trying to adapt. Bangladesh is more at risk from climate change than almost any other country. It's prone to flooding, cyclones and drought. Climate change may already be exacerbating those things. Bangladesh sits at the bottom of a Delta plane were three main rivers converge. It's straddled by the melting Himalayan glaciers in the north and the rising waters of the Bay of Bengal in the south. That makes it highly susceptible to flooding. In 2009, cyclone Aila tore through Bangladesh, uprooting trees, flattening homes and destroying crops. Along the southern coastal regions the storm left behind salty water in areas it had inundated. Fields that had once support agriculture were deemed useless. To adapt to their newly saline environment, locals have had to change their source of food production. Through a project funded by the World Bank villagers have switched to raising crabs which thrive in saltwater. Villagers rear the crabs and sell them at a local market where they're then resold by buyers who shipped them to Dakha. Adding to this problem, in some areas farmers deliberately inundate their lands with salty water so they can farm shrimp rather than crops, which is more profitable but problematic for the environment. But the salinity creates another daunting problem - it pollutes local groundwater and makes it more difficult to access safe drinking water. Climate change is worsening this effect. Cyclones are more common, river flow has diminished, and salty water from the Bay of Bengal has been reaching ever farther into the coastal lands travelling up rivers and polluting freshwater supplies that are used for drinking and irrigation. NGOs working with the Community Climate Change Project has sought to address this problem. They've provided water tanks so locals can harvest rainwater and have helped fund a desalination plant that provides clean drinking water. In the north of the country, local livelihoods have also been threatened by water. Many villagers are beholden to the rivers. When the rivers flood, the soil used for agriculture has disappeared. Not only have they lost their homes and their crops but also their means of survival. In Ranpur, villagers have learned a new farming technique that works on sandbars or chars where all the soil has been eroded. Farmers dig out holes in the char fill them with compost and plant pumpkins. Pumpkins are preserved and can be sold during the rainy season providing income throughout the year. Adaptation projects such as the ones being carried out in Bangladesh have had a huge impact on those involved but Bangladesh is not the only place where the effects of climate change are already being felt and adapted to. Rotterdam is building floating pavilions to pilot a city that rises with its sea levels. London will improve the Thames Barrier so it can better protect the city from floods. A decade ago adaptation was almost taboo in international discussions about climate change because it was believed to distract attention from the vital task of stopping global warming altogether. Now those are recognized as important. But can keep them in poor countries like Bangladesh adapt quickly enough? We don't know yet. Richer countries are better able to withstand the potential shocks that climate change will bring. If change is slow enough, it gives people more time to act and increases the odds of success. World leaders tend to talk about stopping climate change. It would help poor farmers enormously if it could only be slowed down. Daily Watch: mind-stretching short films throughout the working week. Amazing traditional fishing in Bangladesh

08:28
Amazing traditional fishing in Bangladesh This Is a video of traditional fishing in Bangladesh . Just watch and enjoy it . If You Like This Video And Want To Get More Videos With Me! Please Subscribe My Channel "traditionalbd" Fishing Gear any form of equipment, implement, tool or mechanical device used to catch, collect or harvest fish. Fishermen in many parts of Bangladesh catch fish with their hands. In rural areas, in seasonal waters or beels, during winter, people can be usually seen fishing with different traditional gears while some even do so without any gear. The principal categories of fishing gears that are traditionally used in Bangladesh can be enumerated as the following: Wounding gears Such gears are spears that are thrust, thrown or discharged. The following are the traditional wounding gears: Ek Kata; Tekata I; Tekata II; Anchda; and Koch. Fishing by poisoning and explosives Sporadic reports have been filed on fishing by poisoning with certain chemicals in some areas of the sundarbans. This practice, however, is not permissible by law. Cast Net Line fishing Long lines in both freshwaters and in seawater, use of Bodshi and Charee in angling rods, single lines floated in rural rice fields and beels, etc, are typical line fishing methods used in Bangladesh. In line fishing the fish is usually attracted by a natural or artificial bait. Traps Different traps made of bamboo sticks are used widely in rural Bangladesh. These are of various shaped chambers essentially having contrivances for the fishes to enter. Escape is prevented by automatic labyrinths or retarding devices. In rural Bangladesh during rainy season when there are floods people use these traps. Different traps seen in different parts of the country are Icber Chai; Bega; Duba Fund; Darkee; Unta; Tepai; Dheal; Cheng; Chari; Chandi Bair; Bana; Polo; Raboni; Anga; and Charo. Nets On the basis of shape and size, and size of mesh, location of setting in the water, and the way they are used, nets are classified broadly into the following categories: Bag net- Kept vertically open by a frame and held horizontally stretched by the water current. They can be kept set in water against the water current, as for example Behundi net and Sabadh net, Nets of similar shape but smaller in size are dredged and towed with the hand. Moiya Jal Drag net/push net- These nets are held apart with triangular bamboo frame and pushed manually. They are used in fishing in the traditional waters of beels and floodplains, locally called Thela Jal and Moiya Jal. Trawl nets are also a type of drag net. Seine net- This type of net has very long wings and a towing rope. The nets are of various lengths and come with or without bags for catching and are locally called Bedh Jal. If the size is too big, it is called Jagot Bedh. The size of the mesh depends upon the size of the fish to be caught. Cast net- a common net in Bangladesh; it is round-shaped when thrown to fully open and has got weights in the form of iron balls along a string set at the outer edge of the net. It is operated manually and used mainly in the shallows of ponds, beels, estuaries and in the coast. Lift net- The common shape is square and it is fitted with two bamboo strips arranged in cross-bars and connected at the four corners of the net. The arranged crossbars with the net is then attached with another lever for lifting the net from out of the water. The net is mostly hand-operated and portable. The net is locally called Dharma Jal. Sometimes the size could be made bigger and fixed at some strategic water areas eg Khoda Jal and Konaghar Jal. Falling net- are of various sizes and shapes depending upon the habitat where they are used and on the type of fish to be caught. A type is mainly seen in northern Bangladesh which is a bigger version of the cast net locally called Othedh Jal. The twine used for this net is heavier and the mesh is also bigger than ordinary mesh. The weights used are heavier too. This net is used to catch fish from the deeps of rivers. About 5-10 people swim and carry the net, spread it out and help it to fall in the desired location of a water body. After setting the net, fishermen wait for hours. Then they start diving in the water to catch the fish. Sometimes they bring fish out of the net or they entangle the fishes with net and leave them there before pulling the net out. Another type of falling net, locally called Chhabi Jal, is used in shallow water; it is made with nylon net and rope. . The other type of falling net is called Chak Jal. It is mainly used in rivers and beels during winter months. Gill net- Commonly seen in rural areas and used in rivers, flood plains and rice fields, Gill net is cast in shallow or deeper waters of rivers or beels. The local name is Fansh Jal. A type of this net, commonly seen in floodplains and rice fields, is locally called Koi Jal because it is generally used to catch koi and some other similar fishes . . [MS Shah]

‪Hawaiian Grown TV - Opah -‬ Garden & Valley Isle Seafood 2

09:33
Opah (also known colloquially as moonfish, sunfish, kingfish, redfin ocean pan, and Jerusalem haddock) are large, colorful, deep-bodied pelagic Lampriform fish comprising the small family Lampridae (also spelled Lamprididae). There are only two living species in a single genus: Lampris (from the Greek lamprid-, "brilliant" or "clear"). One species is found in tropical to temperate waters of most oceans, while the other is limited to a circumglobal distribution in the Southern Ocean, with the 34th parallel as its northern limit. Two additional species, one in the genus Lampris and the other in the monotypic Megalampris, are only known from fossil remains. The extinct family, Turkmenidae, from the Paleogene of Central Asia, is closely related, though much smaller. Opah are rarely caught by recreational anglers. They are prized trophies for deep-water anglers as their large size and attractive form lend themselves well to taxidermy. Opah are frequently caught as bycatch in many longline tuna fisheries. Opah is becoming increasingly popular in seafood markets. It first became popular as a sushi and sashimi in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The meat is lightly flavored and lends itself well to a variety of preparations, principally saute. Opah flesh has a light pink to orange color, but turns white when cooked. It is popular in Hawaii, especially in restaurants. An average of 35 percent of an opah's weight is consumable, with the remaining 65% being bone and thick skin. Eco engineering to prevent flooding in Bangladesh (ECOBAS) | Wageningen UR

01:28
In the project ECOBAS, eco engineering is used to protect the coast of Bangladesh. Every year, floods wash away the earthen dikes along the Bangladeshi coast. A barrier could be built in the sea to break the waves. Natural processes could be used to help build this barrier. A wall of concrete blocks could be placed in front of the shore line. Oysters will start living on this wall, which creates a semi-natural reef. Behind this reef, mangrove trees could be planted. This vegetation would break the waves before they reach the land. At the same time, it forms a natural habitat for fish and crabs, which the local population could eat or sell to generate some extra income. These are findings of the project ECOBAS which has been carried out by Royal HaskoningDHV, University of Chittagong and two Wageningen UR research institutes, IMARES and LEI Wageningen UR.
