This is TheGamer's list of 10 video game Easter eggs so well hidden they took YEARS to find. WHAT DO YOU THINK: What was an Easter egg which took you years to find? Submit it to us here: https://goo.gl/forms/hn6vV1Ic2PbfGnhx2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ As a gamer, there’s nothing quite as exhilarating in life as searching for hidden secrets and easter eggs in some of your favorite video game franchises. It feels like you’ve accomplished something great when you make these discoveries put in place by professionals who love to stump people. The first Easter egg came in 1979 with the game Adventure for Atari and while it was the original, it certainly wasn’t the last. It became a popular phenomenon to put these in place so players would get to have little puzzles to figure out and solve. It was originally used as a way to give game developers credit as most companies didn’t have their name anywhere even though they were the one who created the game from nothing. Warren Robinett completely changed the industry without even knowing what he had started. Sometimes, the Easter eggs were just strange or side projects like in GoldenEye where an entire emulator with 10 working games was put in place. No one found them for 15 years even though the game was extremely popular. The initials of the Donkey Kong designer were another forgotten treasure locked away for over 20 years until a coder finally discovered the mystery. Then, there were games where secret rooms were created in your honor and neither you or any other gamer really had access to it unless you stumbled upon it completely by accident as could be done for the Chris Houlihan room in the Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. There are still so many Easter eggs just waiting to be discovered, but for now, we’re going to check out 10 video game Easter eggs so well hidden they took years to find! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Script by: Jen Weddle Voice Over by: Justin Freitas Edited by: Marc-Antoine Kelertas Our Social Media: https://twitter.com/thegamer_site https://www.facebook.com/thegamercom/ Our Website http://thegamer.com Video Games Evolved_ Donkey Kong_William Hunter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgmI2U87hl8&t=18s Donkey Kong's Easter Egg Found_devwebcl https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsTi_fbqsoQ&t=5s Halo 3 - IWHBYD Skull Walkthrough - Achievement Guide - How to find iwhbyd skull_randomChievos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySKndL3zwr4&t=54s Let's Play Final Fantasy I Part 23 - Warmech and Tiamat Sitting in a Fortress_ballerscuba https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBlOtXUH4FY&t=552s 5 Different Entrances to the Chris Houlihan Room_MaddHatts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7i2AHjvPMg&t=1s GTA 5_ THE BIGFOOT EASTER EGG FULL TUTORIAL_ - HOW TO KILL ''THE BEAST''_ (GTA 5_WhizL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdwL_tzfcUg&t=29s Mike Tyson's Punch-Out__ (NES) Part 1_Super Shy Guy Gaming https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLND81vUVkA&t=172s Mike Tyson's Punchout (Nintendo) Easter Egg _ Secret_midwesternhousewives https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fR37cPR_1_4&t=104s

10 secrets in games that took years to find
There are gamers who dedicate their lives to find all the easter eggs and secrets developers have put in their games. But there are also secrets that remain undiscovered for decades. In this video we take a look at ten secrets that remained hidden for many, many years! Let us know if you knew about any of these. Now enjoy 10 secrets in video games that took gamers years to find! Super Mario World - Big Boo We kick off this list with a monumental discovery. 26 years after the release of Super Mario World on the Super Nintendo someone discovered the Giant Boo is actually killable. For over two decades we have been running away from this big Boo, but all we needed to do is slide down a slope and hit him to kill him. Final Fantasy IX - A new quest If you ever thought you played every single quest from Final Fantasy IX, you might want to think again. Thirteen years after the game released in 2000, a new quest was discovered for this Playstation 1 role playing game. At multiple points during the game you need to go to a hideout to discover new members of a family. Halo 3 - Happy Birthday Lauren Halo 3 was an awesome conclusion of the first Halo trilogy. Ever since the release in 2007 gamers have been searching for easter eggs and clues in every level. But nobody expected this secret. On December 25th you would need to boot the game. Once the loading screen begins, hold down both thumbsticks and you would get a panned out view on the Halo ring. GoldenEye - Spectrum ZX Emulator We wouldn’t call this an easter egg, but deep inside the code of the Nintendo 64 game GoldenEye, there’s an emulator hidden for the Spectrum ZX. It took 15 years, a Nintendo 64 emulator and a smart software developer to discover the hidden code in the game. Apparently Rare had been messing around with emulation software on the Nintendo 64 during the development of GoldenEye. Splinter Cell Double Agent - Baby Seals Four years after its 2006 release an extra side mission in Splinter Cell Double Agent was unearthed… not by gamers, but by one of the developers that worked on the game. There’s a mission that requires you to find five hidden baby seals. Not only did you need to find collectible items, you would also need to present the right item to the right seal to actually be able to save it. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - Chris Houlihan’s Room There are not many secrets more notorious then the Chris Houlihan Room in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Apparently Chris Houlihan won to honor to have his name in the game thanks to a contest in the American Nintendo Power magazine. This resulted in a room full of rupees and a telepathic tile with his name on it. Deus Ex Invisible War - Flag Flushing Toilet Party Deus Ex: Invisible War isn’t the best game in this epic series but this secret definitely gives it some bonus points. At the final level of the game you need to find a flag in the bunker and take it with you. Then you need to go to a bathroom and flush it down a toilet. Super Smash Bros Melee - The Master Hand Seven years after its 2001 release players discovered that an unplayable characters from Super Smash Bros Melee was actually playable. The Master Hand can become a playable character using the Name Entry Glitch. You need to do some tricky and well timed button presses to unlock him. Metroid - NAR PASSWORD The developers of Metroid on the NES had a code build in that would give the player infinite power. In the world of passwords this is probably one of the most legendary. The code is called NAR PASSWORD or NARPA’S SWORD - but that’s another discussion. Using the password Samus will never run out of missiles or energy. Many Nintendo games - Totaka’s Song This last secret is a special one, because it exists in multiple Nintendo games ranging from the early 80s to modern day releases. Sound designer Kazumi Totaka puts his special tune in almost every game he works on. What is your favorite secret in videogames that took years to find? Secret of Evermore Video Walkthrough 1/2
This is the first of two videos for the video walkthrough / playthrough / runthrough / etc of the SNES RPG Secret of Evermore. This video goes from the start of the game to right before the boy and his dog get put into the slammer after the pig race. I named the boy after myself (though I wonder what sort of parents would name their kid Saikyo Mog....Weird people...) The dog is named after the German Shepherd the leading female FAQ writer of GameFAQs used to own. She thought it was a nice sentiment. :P I don't try grind in this game (so I don't go in and out of areas to refight enemies again and again). I do make a bit of an effort to kill as many enemies as I can while going from place to place though. Well, maybe there was a tiny bit of grinding in the swamp area. I wanted my spear to be at level one before I fought the boss there. Through notes and having played the game a ton of times, I'm pretty sure I went through the trading sequence fairly well. I guess I should have bought a few extra things for the second market, but everything worked out. As far as alchemy spells go, the only ones I really needed were the healing spells and crush. As most of you know, crush is a wonderful alchemy spell. A plan of mine was to wait near the end and use each spell once to put on a little bit of a show, but I figured that would take up a bit of time, so I just used the spells as I got them. I'm pretty sure throughout the two videos I end up using each spell at least once.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES) Extra - Secrets + Chris Houlihan's Room
Secrets found in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Played in real time on Snes9x 1.54. [00:00] Sweeping Lady in Kakariko If you sprinkle some Magic Powder onto the Sweeping Lady in Kakariko, next door to the Bug-Catching kid's house, she'll turn into a fairy. If you leave and then return, she'll return to normalcy. [00:17] Free Potions! Come By Again! You can get free Green Potions by tossing an empty bottle into the fairy pond in either the Waterfall of Wishing or the Pyramid of Power. [00:52] They Say Eating Fish Makes You Smart. After draining the pond surrounding the Swamp Ruins, the fish that appears can be picked up and tossed into any body of water, and in return, you'll get 20 rupees. If you take it to the guy who sold you the bottle at the beginning, you'll get 20 rupees plus other goodies. [04:40] Free Magic Decanter. You can freeze certain enemies with the Ice Rod (Gibdos, for example), and then crush them with the Magic Hammer to get a large magic decanter. This well-known trick is explained by a telepathic tile in a cave east of Level 5: Ice Palace. [05:30] Turn a Cucco into a Lady. Two houses within Kakariko Village have pots that hide cuccos underneath them. However, you can only turn one of them into a lady by sprinkling some Magic Powder. She'll then scold you for this and wishes she could return to her cucco form. [06:20] Cucco Attack Self-Explanatory. [07:00] Blacksmiths' Helper(?) The two blacksmiths will rebuke you if you whip out that Magic Hammer and using it on the welding table. [07:27] Mario Time! There are some references to the Super Mario series in this game, notably Chain Chomps and Warp Pipes found in Level 7: Turtle Rock, and Mario paintings hung on the walls of some Kakariko houses. If you pull on them, you'll be knocked back and rupees will scatter all over the floor. Though not shown in the video, you can also pull on the Pyramid statues and on the Turtle Rock's right foot to find secret rupees. [07:46] Chris Houlihan's Room Chris Houlihan won a Nintendo Power contest a long time ago and had his name put in the game as part of a prize. This room is not accessible in the GBA version, it has to be done on the SNES version. You have to perform a series of well-timed dashes (I recommend first timers start from Kakariko Village), and if you get lucky, you'll land in Chris Houlihan's room.

Secret of Mana Video Walkthrough 1/3
This is the first of three videos for my video walkthrough / playthrough / runthrough / etc of the SNES RPG Secret of Mana. This video goes from the start to just a little bit after getting Salamando. Thanks goes to Dark Wyvern and mastawolf over at GameFAQs.com for their hints, tips, and suggestions. I had wanted some advice on some things to do during the video (since I usually take the time to grind out spell and weapon levels, and I tried not to do that in the videos), and they provided some useful information. As far as names go in this game, I named the hero after myself, Dark Wyvern wanted the girl to be called Kelly, so I called her that, and as for the sprite, I named him what I did when me and my brother first played this game years and years ago....It's a bad pun, I know, but it was the only name I could think of... :P In these 3 videos, there really is only time tiny bit of grinding (It doesn't even last that long.) In this video, after getting the sprite, I don't have enough cash to buy every bit of armor for him, so I took to the caves for a few minutes to get the gold for it. Other than that, I pretty much go from point A to point B. When I get magic, I still go from point A to B, but I do cast spells quite a bit. Most of the magic isn't leveled up in these videos except for a few. Mainly Undine for the girl and Gnome for the sprite. All the others (at least for the sprite) get leveled up either once or twice, or just none at all....Since I didn't want to spend time grinding, some sacrifices had to be made.

SNES Longplay [214] Secret of Mana (2p) (part 1 of 8)
http://www.longplays.org Played by Ironsharp & KTheorem A classic and innovative-for-its-time 1993 action-RPG by (then) Squaresoft for the SNES. Up to 3 players take control of a Boy, a Girl, and a Sprite (an androgynous fairy-like creature) as you hack-and-slash your way through a truly bizarre mishmash of several different storylines. Ironsharp controlled the Boy (as well as commanding the Sprite's magical attacks) and KTheorem controlled the Girl. Excessively long segments of magic skill leveling were cut. Try to guess which palette-swapped sprite will be the next boss! Ironsharp's comments (Boy/Sprite): While the game certainly is a classic and is very much beloved, it has tons of flaws (most of which are exacerbated in co-op play) that render it nearly unplayably tedious at times by today's standards. The slow nature of physical attacks makes magical attacks a necessity but the game's magic/weapon skill system is unneccessarily grindy. Thus, we gave up maxing out our skills when it became increasingly tedious to do so, but it didn't even affect the difficulty by much. Highlights of the game's fun-factor include the first third and the last dungeon. KTheorem's comments (Girl): As the weaker of the two player characters I found much of my time sitting back while Ironsharp hit the enemies punctuated by, as the game went on, increasingly longer and longer recovery/charge cycles. That got boring. The sprite hit-stealing the charged attacks just made it worse. The game would have been much much better if the punishment for attacking an enemy was only the recovery and not also the period of invulnerability. Even the 3 pallet swapped dragons would have been tolerable.

Secret of Mana (SNES) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
A playthrough of Square's 1993 action-RPG for the Super Nintendo, Secret of Mana. Secret of Mana, or Seiken Densetsu 2 as it was called in Japan, is the direct sequel to Square's 1991 Game Boy game Final Fantasy Adventure. It's a top-down RPG that was hailed for it's graphics, music, and its multitap-driven three-player co-op game play, and is still regarded as one of the SNES's best action-oriented role-playing games. Since the remake was just released yesterday (2/15/18), I figured it was about time to upload my video of this classic. While at first glance it looks a lot like a stylized Zelda-style game, Secret of Mana does several things to differentiate itself. The first (and among the most remembered) of the game's unique features is the multitap support. Using the attachment that was originally packed in with Super Bomberman, three players, can all jump in and play at the same time once the entire party has been assembled. It was a massive amount of fun to play it this way - coordinating and attacking with a couple of buddies really gave the game a unique feel, especially when you compare it to the (even still today) isolated single-player experiences that RPGs typically offer. Of course you can play it solo or with one friend - the remaining characters will be taken care of by the AI. It's not always intelligent - there is a tendency for the computer-controlled ones to get stuck behind walls and trees, or to stand gormlessly as they get whacked by monsters - but usually it works fairly well. Better than you'd expect for a game from 1993. Even though the story takes some pretty dark turns later on, Secret of Mana manages to maintain a cheerful, upbeat presentation throughout the majority of the game. The graphics are impressively detailed, and there are a lot of little background animations that make the world come alive - just check out the wind blowing around the flowers and grass in the first few areas. It might not seem like much now, but such attention to detail was something that you didn't see often in the first half of the 16-bit generation's games. The enemies are extremely memorable, imaginative, and often quite goofy - I always like the waddling "mushbooms" that spray spores at you and little teddy bears that dress up like Robin Hood to shoot arrows at the party. The bosses are usually impressive and huge, and the spell effects get fairly impressive later on in the game. The music is one of my favorite things about Secret of Mana. The soundtrack has been praised time-and-time again over the years, and it has held up extremely well. Though it's usually orchestral in nature, the sound is markedly different than what you usually get with Uematsu's Final Fantasy scores. It changes its tone on a dime to match the action, swinging between frantic, electronic dance-style tracks to subdued, emotive piano melodies in an instant. The range of styles is amazing - the fact that Hiroki Kikuta (the composer) could hit each of them is impressive, but that each and every track succeeds so well is an incredible achievement. Apparently he sampled the instruments himself while composing so that the final in-game tracks would sound as he intended them to, and it was a worthwhile effort. Not only is it well-composed, but the quality of the samples is a substantial jump over what you'll find in most cart-based titles, and makes the music feel richer and fuller than you'd expect out of a mere eight channels. The gameplay holds up well, too. Granted, the game was always a bit glitchy, but once you figure out the game's few quirks, it usually works just fine. The battle system is an interested hybrid of old and new - though it's all played out in real-time, the accuracy and power of your hits relies more on your stats than it does on making sure that you're character's weapon visibly makes contact with the enemy. It can lead to a few annoying whiffs, but it does make sense once you've acclimated to it. I absolutely love Secret of Mana. I always have, and it's hard to imagine that I'd ever feel otherwise about it. From the story to the gameplay to the aesthetics, this sequel improves in just about every way humanly possible over Final Fantasy Adventure. It might not be perfect, nor is it even among Square's best on the SNES - seriously, how can any game compete against their hulking juggernaut of a 16-bit line-up? But Secret of Mana is an amazing adventure, and it's one that you'll never forget once you've played it. There's a good reason that Nintendo included it with the SNES Classic. It is a classic. *Please note that there are few cuts when I level-up - you'll notice a stat jump when these happen. Those points were super boring, so I axed them to keep the video moving along. _ No cheats were used during the recording of this video.
