Moses Parts the Sea - The Ten Commandments (6/10) Movie CLIP (1956) HD

The Ten Commandments movie clips: http://j.mp/15vUTyR BUY THE MOVIE: http://amzn.to/sAaWEH Don't miss the HOTTEST NEW TRAILERS: http://bit.ly/1u2y6pr CLIP DESCRIPTION: Moses (Charlton Heston) parts the Red Sea for the Hebrews to escape the Egyptians' pursuit. FILM DESCRIPTION: Based on the Holy Scriptures, with additional dialogue by several other hands, The Ten Commandments was the last film directed by Cecil B. DeMille. The story relates the life of Moses, from the time he was discovered in the bullrushes as an infant by the pharoah's daughter, to his long, hard struggle to free the Hebrews from their slavery at the hands of the Egyptians. Moses (Charlton Heston) starts out "in solid" as Pharoah's adopted son (and a whiz at designing pyramids, dispensing such construction-site advice as "Blood makes poor mortar"), but when he discovers his true Hebrew heritage, he attempts to make life easier for his people. Banished by his jealous half-brother Rameses (Yul Brynner), Moses returns fully bearded to Pharoah's court, warning that he's had a message from God and that the Egyptians had better free the Hebrews post-haste if they know what's good for them. Only after the Deadly Plagues have decimated Egypt does Rameses give in. As the Hebrews reach the Red Sea, they discover that Rameses has gone back on his word and plans to have them all killed. But Moses rescues his people with a little Divine legerdemain by parting the Seas. Later, Moses is again confronted by God on Mt. Sinai, who delivers unto him the Ten Commandments. Meanwhile, the Hebrews, led by the duplicitous Dathan (Edward G. Robinson), are forgetting their religion and behaving like libertines. "Where's your Moses now?" brays Dathan in the manner of a Lower East Side gangster. He soon finds out. DeMille's The Ten Commandments may not be the most subtle and sophisticated entertainment ever concocted, but it tells its story with a clarity and vitality that few Biblical scholars have ever been able to duplicate. It is very likely the most eventful 219 minutes ever recorded to film--and who's to say that Nefertiri (Anne Baxter) didn't make speeches like, "Oh, Moses, Moses, you splendid, stubborn, adorable fool"? THE EXODUS - GOD parts the RED SEA through MOSES

06:24
The Exodus - God parts the Red Sea through Moses. The Ten Commandments 2006 version combined with Exodus 14 brings this amazing historical event to life as God parts the Red Sea through Moses. Enjoy! The Exodus - God parts the Red Sea through Moses. Exodus 14:5 And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us? Exodus 14:6 And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him: Exodus 14:7 And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them. Exodus 14:8 And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand. Exodus 14:9 But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon. Exodus 14:10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD. Exodus 14:11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? Exodus 14:12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness. Exodus 14:13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. Exodus 14:14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. Exodus 14:15 And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: Exodus 14:16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. Exodus 14:17 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen. Exodus 14:18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen. Exodus 14:19 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them: Exodus 14:20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night. Exodus 14:21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. Exodus 14:22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. Exodus 14:23 And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. Exodus 14:24 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians, Exodus 14:25 And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians. Exodus 14:26 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen. Exodus 14:27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. Exodus 14:28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them. Exodus 14:29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. Exodus 14:30 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore. Exodus 14:31 And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.

The Truth Behind the Mermaid Myth Revealed

10:20
Do mermaids really exist? How do these half-human half-fish mythical sea creatures look? Does Aquaman live among mermaids? Anyway, one of the interesting things about legends is that entirely different parts of the world describe seeing the exact same thing for centuries! Believe it or not, scientists and historians have been interested in the mermaid’s existence for years. TIMESTAMPS: The first mermaid 2:14 Mermaids in Japanese folklore 3:28 Mermaids in African folklore 3:46 Mermaids in Russian folklore 4:15 Unconfirmed sightings in the past years 5:30 Christopher Columbus’s mermaid sighting 6:32 Why manatees could be mistaken for mermaids 6:55 Could mermaid body function? 8:31 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY: - The first mermaid, according to legends, is Atargatis, the ancient Syrian goddess of the sea. She didn’t start out as a mermaid, though. - Like most legends, that of the mermaid spans across cultures. In Japanese folklore, there’s the Ningyo, which is a giant fish with a human face and a monkey’s mouth. - In Russia, they have the Rusalka, a water nymph in Slavic mythology that’s been portrayed as both good and evil. - In Norway and parts of Scotland, they have the Finfolk, who were shape-shifters of the sea. They have an affinity for silver and tend to make humans their slaves. - The hype continues even today. Unconfirmed (and probably false) sightings have been reported all over the world in the past years. - One thing’s for sure, no one has actually seen, met, or caught a real mermaid, alive or not. Even Christopher Columbus’s mermaid sighting in 1493 was debunked by experts. - From afar, manatees are about the size of a human, their front flippers could resemble an arm from a distance, and their neck vertebrae allow them to turn their heads around like we do. - The human part of the mermaid wouldn’t be able to withstand a life in cold oceanic waters. That is, not unless mermaids have a thick layer of hair like sea otters or blubber like other marine mammals. #mermaids #marinemammals #syrian Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/brightside/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/brightgram/ 5-Minute Crafts Youtube: https://www.goo.gl/8JVmuC ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.brightside.me/

Look What I Just Caught In The Ocean...

10:55
Look What I Just Caught In The Ocean... Description: What’s up Tops fans?! And welcome back to another epic episode from your favorite YouTube channel – Top Supreme! Did you know that we’re one of the few channels online that actually post content every single day?! Yeah, that’s right! Today we’ll be diving into the deepest parts of the earth’s vast and deep waters with our title – Look What I Just Caught in the Ocean! Want to become part of the Supreme Team? Make sure to subscribe down below with notifications ON so you don’t miss anything we post each day! Let’s get rollin! 10 Peacock Mantis Shrimp Alright guys and girls let’s just kick things off right here – where we introduce you too the mantis shrimp – or what’s sometimes called, the peacock mantis shrimp. This beautifully colored sea animal is a wide array of colors, with it’s hard shell being predominately bright green, it isn’t hard to tell why these guys are sometimes called the peacocks of the underwater world. Still, it isn’t just the colors that make this creature so fascinating. These animals have the most complex eyes found anywhere in the animal kingdom! Seriously, their eyes have the ability to detect 10 times more color than a human – and if that’s not enough, they even have the ability to see ultraviolet and infrared light. 9 Blob Fish Ok picking up and moving right along – check this ugly guy out! Now usually when I say something is ugly you could look at it and probably say to yourself – ‘wow, this thing isn’t the most attractive but ugly may be a bit harsh’… well, I guarantee you won’t be saying that about our next animal on today’s list. The Blog Fish – is, without a shadow of a doubt – one of the single ugliest things I’ve ever seen in my life! Now that all that’s out the way – check this ugly thing out! These little guys live over 4000 feet below sea level, deep in the depths of the oceans near Australia and New Zealand. Now, why is the Blob Fish so freaking ugly, someone might ask? Well, thanks for your hypothetical question – the blog fish is so hideous because of how far under the water it lives. The pressure is much different, and much more intense, that far below sea level – so the blob fish, essentially, is just a mass of gelatin. 8 Textile Cone Snail Moving right along to number 8 on today’s list – meet the textile cone snail. Now brace yourself, because this is one of the deadliest things you could come across in the water. Ever. This venomous snail – which is carnivorous and is known to feast on other snails, along with small fish – injects a conotoxin – which is potent enough to kill 10 people! This little guy has a microscopic needle which is sharp enough to pierce a wetsuit, so handling live ones definitely isn’t recommended. The textile cone snail is a beautiful animal – with an ugly attitude, and deadly weaponry. If you don’t take anything away from today’s video, take this – the textile cone snail is not a snail to be toyed with. 7 2 Mouth Swimmer Ok let’s keep it moving right along and let’s check out one nature’s biggest underwater terrors. Are you ready for one of the most hideous things you’ve ever seen in your life? Check this guy out. This extremely rare species of deep sea shark looks absolutely terrifying, scouring the ocean floors as it looks for food. But check out the way that it eats. But pay attention to this – it has an additional jaw stick right out from what we thought was the original mouth of this insanely horror movie inspired looking shark. Now look at how it brings in this unsuspecting fish. Poor little guy. I don’t know about you, but one of the things that I love about living on this planet is that we never know what we’re gonna run into on a given day! And not only does that apply to us humans, but it clearly is very clear that that’s the manner in which the animal world operates, as well!! 6 Rise to Heaven 5 ?? 4 ?? 3 ?? 2 ?? 1 ?? Did They Find a Living Megalodon In the Mariana Trench?

08:34
Сould Megalodon sharks still be alive in the deepest parts of the ocean? Science tells us that Megalodon sharks are extinct. Given that it was a massive shark with noticeable feeding habits, we guess that if Megalodon sharks were still roaming the oceans, they would probably have been spotted by someone by now. But perhaps not if they lived in the deepest place on Earth: the Mariana Trench. TIMESTAMPS: What the name Megalodon means 1:49 Megalodon’s size 3:26 The deepest spot on Earth 4:13 Could Megalodon live in the Mariana Trench 5:00 How many people reached Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench 6:39 #megalodon #marianatrench #meg Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY: - The Megalodon shark roamed the oceans as early as 23 million years ago, and we have their fossils to prove their existence. When people first encountered Megalodon teeth, they believed them to be rocks that had made their way to Earth from the moon. - Megalodon was the biggest shark to terrorize the ocean, and it is thought to have gone extinct 2.6 million years ago. The name Megalodon means “big tooth.” Most of the recovered Megalodon fossil teeth have been 4” to 5”. But there are a few enormous teeth that are over 7”. - The Mariana Trench is 6.83 miles deep and measures more than 1,500 miles long and 43 miles wide. To put the depth into perspective, if you were to put Mount Everest into the Mariana Trench, the top would still be sticking out. To put the length into perspective, in 1,500 miles you could fit all the states between Florida and Massachusetts. 1,500 miles is also the distance between Madrid, in Spain, and Copenhagen, in Denmark. - To survive in the Mariana Trench, Megalodon would have had to adapt to the living conditions and evolve. It would also have to switch its diet from whales, dolphins, sea lions, and sea cows to whatever organisms reside in the Mariana Trench and hope that it could find and eat its usual 2,500 lb of food per day. - According to the United Nations, there are 7.6 billion people in the world today, and only 3 of them have made it to the deepest point on Earth. The reality is that with so little research, it is impossible to know what lies in the depths of the Mariana Trench. Rising sea-levels an issue in near future for parts of NZ

01:04
There's a warning some parts of New Zealand are under threat from rising sea levels as a consequence of climate change. The Hauraki district is only half a metre above sea level. And although the regional council is confident in its plan to tackle the issue, some say not enough is being done.

The deep ocean is the final frontier on planet Earth

14:49
The ocean covers 70% of our planet. The deep-sea floor is a realm that is largely unexplored, but cutting-edge technology is enabling a new generation of aquanauts to go deeper than ever before. Click here to subscribe to The Economist on YouTube: http://econ.trib.al/rWl91R7 Beneath the waves is a mysterious world that takes up to 95% of Earth's living space. Only three people have ever reached the bottom of the deepest part of the ocean. The deep is a world without sunlight, of freezing temperatures, and immense pressure. It's remained largely unexplored until now. Cutting-edge technology is enabling a new generation of aquanauts to explore deeper than ever before. They are opening up a whole new world of potential benefits to humanity. The risks are great, but the rewards could be greater. From a vast wealth of resources to clues about the origins of life, the race is on to the final frontier The Okeanos Explorer, the American government state-of-the-art vessel, designed for every type of deep ocean exploration from discovering new species to investigating shipwrecks. On board, engineers and scientists come together to answer questions about the origins of life and human history. Today the Okeanos is on a mission to investigate the wreck of a World War one submarine. Engineer Bobby Moore is part of a team who has developed the technology for this type of mission. The “deep discover”, a remote operating vehicle is equipped with 20 powerful LED lights and designed to withstand the huge pressure four miles down. Equivalent to 50 jumbo jets stacked on top of a person While the crew of the Okeanos send robots to investigate the deep, some of their fellow scientists prefer a more hands-on approach. Doctor Greg stone is a world leading marine biologist with over 8,000 hours under the sea. He has been exploring the abyss in person for 30 years. The technology opening up the deep is also opening up opportunity. Not just to witness the diversity of life but to glimpse vast amounts of rare mineral resources. Some of the world's most valuable metals can be found deep under the waves. A discovery that has begun to pique the interest of the global mining industry. The boldest of mining companies are heading to the deep drawn by the allure of a new Gold Rush. But to exploit it they're also beating a path to another strange new world. In an industrial estate in the north of England, SMD is one of the world's leading manufacturers of remote underwater equipment. The industrial technology the company has developed has made mining possible several kilometers beneath the ocean surface. With an estimated 150 trillion dollars’ worth of gold alone, deep-sea mining has the potential to transform the global economy. With so much still to discover, mining in the deep ocean could have unknowable impact. It's not just life today that may need protecting; reaching the deep ocean might just allow researchers to answer some truly fundamental questions. Hydrothermal vents, hot springs on the ocean floor, are cracks in the Earth's crust. Some claim they could help scientists glimpse the origins of life itself. We might still be years away from unlocking the mysteries of the deep. Even with the latest technology, this kind of exploration is always challenging. As the crew of the Okeanos comes to terms with a scale of the challenge and the opportunity that lies beneath, what they and others discover could transform humanity's understanding of how to protect the ocean. It's the most hostile environment on earth, but the keys to our future may lie in the deep. If You Ever See This on the Beach, Cry for Help!

08:29
How do you recognize something that you can touch and something you have to run away from as fast as possible? Here is a list of the most dangerous sea creatures you can meet and how to recognize them! There are so many different species living in the ocean! Some of them are beautiful, some are deadly, and some are both. TIMESTAMPS Fire Coral 0:40 Flower Urchin 1:20 Cone Snail 1:50 Portuguese Man-of-War 2:32 Snea snakes 3:54 Lionfish 4:51 Chironex 5:39 Surgeonfish 6:15 Indonesian needlefish 6:59 Triggerfish 7:34 SUMMARY - Fire Coral. These small organisms can sting, and the effect can be not very serious and it can be quite bad. A stung person may have severe pains, feel nauseated and even vomit, which is not the best thing to do when you are underwater. - Flower Urchin is both very beautiful and very deadly. It contains toxins that can cause anaphylactic shock, convulsions and finally death. You can get poisoned if you step on it when you are in the sea or the ocean. - Scientists say that just one drop of the cone snail’s poison is enough to kill 20 people! Just one drop! - The most mind-blowing fact about Man-of-War is that technically we should call it Men-of-War, and refer to it not as «it», but «they», and here is why: it’s an animal that is made up of a colony of organisms cooperating together. Man-of-war has tentacles that can be 30 feet long, which it uses to paralyze and kill fish and other small creatures. - Sea snakes are much more venomous than their land-living friends. As it turns out, they have to be like that because they hunt fish, so what they need to do is immobilize their prey very quickly not to let it escape. - Many people call the lionfish the most beautiful sea creature in the world. You can find them in the Caribbean and Eastern Atlantic. Lionfishes are not deadly — they do have a venom, but it’s not lethal. However, the pain you will experience if you get stung is so severe that people say you might wish you were dead. - Chironex doesn’t have any teeth, but it’s dangerous as hell. If a person gets stung, they will have excruciating pain, red inflammation in the stung area and heart dysfunction. - Surgeonfish are easily spooked, so you should be extra careful if you see one of them. Don’t make any unexpected fast moves. The good news is, surgeonfish are not aggressive unless, of course, you provoke them. - Indonesian needlefish live in tropical and subtropical waters of the oceans. They, as the name suggests, have a very sharp, needle-like beak, and they are especially dangerous when they hurl themselves out of the water. - Triggerfish is mostly friendly, but only until you are a threat to its nest. The most dangerous are females — if you approach its nest even accidentally, it will bite you. Thankfully, the bites aren’t poisonous, but triggerfish have extremely sharp teeth, so the injuries it can cause need serious medical attention. UNBELIEVABLE Items Found After Tsunamis !

10:13
You won't believe the strange, weird, bizarre and scary things found after a tsunami hits ! From sea monsters; to deep sea buildings. Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr 5.Buoys These buoys were just common port objects before the Japanese tsunami of 2011, but on American soil they look completely out of place. This yellow pod showed up on the shores of Northwest America, heightening fear that the United State’s West coast couldn’t handle the massive amounts of toxic debris that was set to come into the area. Years later, items from afar are still appearing in parts of Washington, Oregon, and California. The thought of how far away sea traveling objects had to move from just really proves how powerful the Pacific ocean currents are. 4.It’s Both With it appearing to weigh so much, it’s no wonder that it took the full force of a tsunami to hoist this big ole guy out the water and into human captivity. Researchers believe it to be some type of cross hybrid between a Beluga whale and a shark, but who knew that those two species of animal could even breed? It was probably one of those “shark from the wrong side of the tracks falls in love with the innocent but spontaneous beluga whale” type romances. 3.Look Out For This One Yikes! We’re going to need a bigger boat to deal with this guy. This huge fish washed ashore on the shores of New York harbor after a miniature tsunami came and wiped out small portions of Brooklyn. The current carried hipsters all the way to Boston, Massachusetts, where their wicker hats and old fashioned bicycles were not socially accepted. This fish is called “The April Fools Day” flounder, because he is completely fake. This picture was actually originally posted on the New York Post as an introduction to another actual real creature that was discovered. Sorry, everyone! 2.One Eyed Susan This fish appears to be so creepy, that it is probing us to ask you this fun “would you rather” question. Would you rather eat this fish, or have to stare in the eye for three hours straight? Neither option is preferable. We say “eye” instead of “eyes , because apparently, this fish only had one eye. The sheer look of terror in his -eye- was probably caused by the crazy powerful tsunami he had to surf all the way to the shore. 1.Mosque Remains While many people tend to remember and focus on the 2011 tsunami in Japan, there have been many other horrible tsunamis that have caused much destruction over the years. For example, the Indian Ocean tsunami on December 26, 2004. The town of Meulaboh, located on the West coast of Sumatra, lost forty thousand citizens out of it’s already mid-sized population . A series of seven waves caused by a magnitude 9.1 earthquake caused most of the city to be washed away into the wrath of the sea. The Indonesian province was hit the hardest over any other country affected by the quake. This grayish looking pod almost appears to be an old spaceship from the 1960s, but it actually means so much more to people of Meulaboh. Many people in Indonesia are deeply religious, and have turned to God for answers to try and understand why so much sadness and destruction would come into their lives. Some people blame it on the wrath of God who wanted to send a “wake up call” to a reportedly “sinful city”, and the remaining mosques have been places to regain hope and strength.

Moses parts the Red Sea - Animation!

03:03
Moses parts the Red Sea - Animation About Moses Moses (Hebrew: מֹשֶׁה‎, Modern Moshe Tiberian Mōšéh ISO 259-3 Moše ; Syriac: ܡܘܫܐ Moushe; Arabic: موسى‎ Mūsā ) was, according to the Hebrew Bible, the Qur'an, and Baha'i scripture, a former Egyptian prince and warrior,[citation needed] later turned religious leader, lawgiver, and prophet, to whom the authorship of the Torah is traditionally attributed. Also called Moshe Rabbenu in Hebrew (מֹשֶׁה רַבֵּנוּ, Lit. "Moses our Teacher/Rabbi"), he is the most important prophet in Judaism.[1][2] He is also an important prophet in Christianity and Islam, as well as a number of other faiths. The existence of Moses as well as the veracity of the Exodus story are disputed among archaeologists and Egyptologists, with experts in the field of biblical criticism citing logical inconsistencies, new archaeological evidence, historical evidence, and related origin myths in Canaanite culture.[3][4][5] Other historians maintain that the biographical details and Egyptian background attributed to Moses imply the existence of a historical political and religious leader who was involved in the consolidation of the Hebrew tribes in Canaan towards the end of the Bronze Age. According to the Book of Exodus, Moses was born in a time when his people, the Children of Israel, were increasing in numbers and the Egyptian Pharaoh was worried that they might ally with Egypt's enemies. Moses' Hebrew mother, Jochebed, secretly hid him when the Pharaoh ordered all newborn Hebrew boys to be killed upon the circulating prophecy among Egyptian priests of a messianic deliverer among the Hebrew slaves. Through the Pharaoh's sister Queen Bithia, the child was adopted as a foundling from the Nile river and grew up with the Egyptian royal family. After killing an Egyptian slavemaster, Moses fled across the Red Sea to Midian, where he encountered the God of Israel in the form of a "burning bush". God sent Moses back to Egypt to demand the release of the Israelites from slavery. After the Ten Plagues, Moses led the Exodus of the Israelites out of Egypt and across the Red Sea, after which they based themselves at Mount Sinai, where Moses received the Ten Commandments. After 40 years of wandering in the desert, Moses died within sight of the Promised Land. Rabbinical Judaism calculated a lifespan of Moses corresponding to 1391--1271 BCE;[6] Jerome gives 1592 BCE, and Ussher 1619 BCE as his birth year.[7] The biblical text explains the name Mošeh משה as a derivation of the root mšh משה "to draw", in Exodus 2:10: "she called his name Moses (משה): and she said, Because I drew him (משיתהו) out of the water." (KJV).[8] The name is thus suggested to relate to drawing out in a passive sense, "the one who was drawn out". Those who depart from this tradition derive the name from the same root but in an active sense, "he who draws out", in the sense of "saviour, deliverer".[9] The form of the name as recorded in the Masoretic text is indeed the expected form of the Biblical Hebrew active participle.[10] Josephus argued for an Egyptian etymology, and some scholarly suggestions have followed this in deriving the name from Coptic terms mo "water" and `uses "save, deliver", suggesting a meaning "saved from the water".[11] Another suggestion has connected the name with the Egyptian ms, as found in Tuth-mose and Ra-messes, meaning "born" or "child".[8][12]

Sea Level Rise Is Speeding Up in Parts of the Southeastern U.S.

05:09
Whats New - Source: Sea Level Rise Is Speeding Up in Parts of the Southeastern U.S. A combination of natural factors has driven the rise, but climate change has exacerbated the problem. By Scott Waldman. Sea-level rise isn’t just happening; it’s accelerating. And some areas of the United States—like Florida—are seeing “hot spots” where the ocean can creep up six times faster than average. Those are the findings of two new studies published yesterday, which have potentially troubling implications for urban planners trying to address sea-level rise. They also help explain why residents of Florida and North Carolina have seen sharp increases in coastal flooding in recent years. Sea levels in the Southeast—between Cape Hatteras, N.C., and Miami—rose dramatically between 2011 and 2015, according to a new study published in Geophysical Research Letters. The spike in sea levels is driven by a combination of natural factors that is exacerbated by human-caused sea-level rise. The “hot spot” of sea-level rise is similar to others observed on the East Coast over the last century, said Andrea Dutton, a geological science professor at the University of Florida and a co-author of the study. It also shows there is more vulnerability on the Atlantic coast, home to many of America’s major cities, than is typically recognized, she said. “The whole coastline is vulnerable to this type of behavior as we move into the future,” she said. The natural factors driving the burst in sea level included an El Niño and the North Atlantic Oscillation, the shift in atmospheric pressure over the ocean, researchers found. The increase, as well as one observed from 2009 to 2010, occurred around Cape Hatteras, where the Gulf Stream cuts from the coastline and into the deeper ocean. The hot spots show that short-term factors also drive sea level and often are overlooked by urban planners preparing infrastructure for more flooding, Dutton said. While much of the research predicting future sea level focuses on long-term trends, short-terms rises in sea level can also bring major changes, she said. That makes regional planning more difficult and suggests that sea-level-rise projections could be too conservative, she said. “Things can really change in five years, and when you look at the projections, you don’t really get that sense,” she said. “I think the projections give you a false sense of security because you say, ‘OK, we’re not going to get to this level until the year 2060 or whatever.’ But in reality, it can happen much faster.” https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/sea-level-rise-is-speeding-up-in-parts-of-the-southeastern-u-s/ Be sure to visit us at Twitter http://[email protected] Feel support us by visiting our website for additional information: link: http://stayingfittoday.com whatsnewmonty

Animals Found FROZEN In Ice!

11:08
Check out these animals found frozen in ice! This top 10 list of amazing animals discoveries has some ancient animals that were frozen in time for eternity! 10. The Yuka Mammoth The Yuka mammoth is one of the most well known and scientifically valuable animals that have ever been found. It was discovered in 2010 within the Siberian permafrost on the coast of the Laptev Sea in Russia. The most unusual thing about this 39,000-year-old mammoth was that it was mummified, and had the most in-tact mammoth brain ever found, with folds and blood vessels still visible. Finding specimens like this is incredibly helpful to understanding the species. Studies of the brain showed it to be very similar to modern day elephants, and also led to researchers to developing better ways of storing mammoths in the future when new ones are found. Along with the Yuka mammoth, a number of other ones have been found in the region, although not in as good condition, and have been highly sought after by researchers for a different purpose. Because of their relatively intact DNA, and their status as an intriguing extinct animal that is very similar to some that exist today, the mammoth is a great candidate for bringing a species back from extinction using cutting edge technology. It is believed that with a bit of luck and perseverance, we might once again see these giants alive and well, and maybe within just a few years! I would definitely love to see that! 9. Moose It’s rare enough to find an animal preserved in ice, but rarer still is the apparent freezing of two animals when they’re interacting with each other. Well this is what a couple of hikers found in Alaska in 2016. Beneath 8 inches of ice was the stunning sight of two moose fighting each other, clearly so engrossed in their tussle that they failed to notice the approaching frost. In the fall, males tend to be more aggressive towards each other, likely due to territorial disputes or to gain the attention of a female, and at some point these two managed to get their antlers tangled. They probably drowned in the cold water before being frozen over as temperatures fell. Soon after their discovery, the moose were removed from the ice by local enthusiasts who wanted to preserve the unusual find forever. 8. Fish As a fish living in water, ice can be both a blessing and a curse. It’s the unique property of ice floating on top of water that helps to insulate warmth and allow fish to survive falling temperatures, but they aren’t always so lucky. In 2014, a sharp cold eastern wind sent temperatures plummeting very quickly around the island of Lovund in Norway, and instantly froze parts of the ocean. Unfortunately for a large shoal of fish, thought to be attempting to escape a predator at the time, there was no chance to avoid the approaching ice, and they were frozen in place. The ice sheet was so thick that it was perfectly safe for people to walk across, and capture these amazing images of thousands of fish frozen in time. This event had a major impact on the local ecosystem, because birds were unable to find any food, so the skies were strangely silent until the ice finally thawed. 7. Yukagir Bison Siberia is one of the coldest places on earth that has been regularly inhabited for millennia. This makes it the perfect place to find frozen animals like the Yuka mammoth, and close by there was another discovery in 2011, the mummified remains of a Steppe Bison- the ancestor to the modern bison. Discovered by a tribe in the Yana-Indigirka Lowland, the bison was remarkably intact, with its brain and other organs almost perfectly preserved. This is the most complete Steppe Bison ever to be found, and has allowed researchers to extensively study its brain, heart, digestive system and blood vessels, despite it being well over 9000 years old. With no visible signs of injury, it is thought that the lack of body fat around its abdomen is a clue as to how it died. Most likely from starvation as a result of the rapidly changing environment in the area at the time. 6. Selerikan Pony In 1968, gold miners digging tunnels, about 30 feet below the surface of the Indigirka River in Siberia, found something surprising- two legs and a tail of a pony sticking through the roof of one of their tunnels. Experts were called in from the Zoological institute of St. Petersburg to help recover the full animal, which they managed to do, apart from its head. The body turned out to be of a Przewalski (prez walski) Horse, that nowadays is only found in Mongolia, and amazingly this one appeared to have died about 35,000 years ago. Analysis of the remains suggested that the horses lived relatively similar then to how they still do today. What can liquefy its limbs, throw up its own stomach and still live? Echinoderms, a group of sea creatures that can regenerate their own body parts! Without much ability to make toxins, shoot out ink, or fight back, echinoderms have found a different way of escaping. Now, replacing body parts may sound crazy, but echinoderms do it all the time to evade predators. The sea cucumber, a slow moving echinoderm, may not be able to outrun predators, but when under attack it can eviscerate its own guts as a distraction while it scoots away. When brittle stars sense a disturbance on one of their limbs they can liquefy that tissue and release the arm, only to regrow it later. In the Uttermost Parts of the Sea Audiobook Full unabridged Andersen's Fairytales Audiobook you can listen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SGOIsgh99g "Andersen's Fairytales" Hans Christian Andersen (; Danish: [hans ksdjan nsn] ( listen); 2 April 1805 4 August 1875) was a Danish author. Although a prolific writer of plays, travelogues, novels and poems, Andersen is best remembered for his fairy tales. Andersen's popularity is not limited to children: his stories express themes that transcend age and nationality. Andersen's fairy tales, of which no fewer than 3381 works have been translated into more than 125 languages, have become culturally embedded in the West's collective consciousness, readily accessible to children, but presenting lessons of virtue and resilience in the face of adversity for mature readers as well. Some of his most famous fairy tales include "The Emperor's New Clothes", "The Little Mermaid", "The Nightingale", "The Snow Queen", "The Ugly Duckling", "Thumbelina", and many others. His stories have inspired ballets, plays, and animated and live-action films.
