I'm going through this right now! Tired of people telling me what to do, who I am to be. Love to get me a job, looking for "more than" just a job! Everybody else I know work so hard for someone else and are fine with that. I'm not

I wish I had older men like this man around me when I was 18 to 25 even though I was stubborn at the time. We need mentors like him around schools, etc

I had 3 kids b4 24 when I was young and stupid. Child support have made my life incredibly difficult ever since. So good advice is don't have kids young. Love my kids and will still achieve what I want in life but it is really hard and wish I waited till I was married

Great points! But yea black youth from 17-23 years old need to understand that what you do during that time period determines their future. Listen, everybody of all races goes to school during their youth. So they gotta give 100%. They can't screw up in class and cut up and not give it their best. Then when they are 28 years old be complaining about how hard it is to make legit money. It's hard out here. Whatever you do, you gotta give it your best.

Thank you for this video, Dr. Watkins. Very inspirational and motivating. I don't have many men around me to go to for advice so watching your videos helps me in so many ways. This video alone has given me the strength to believe that I can turn things around for myself.

Thanks Doc! You speak the truth..I feel trapped in the corporate world. I'm educated with BS, MS , have a job but I feel like I live in a house of cards..where I'm scrutinized, ostracized and fighting against that double standard every single time. I'm very smart, I wanna be successful, I am not gonna give up..But man, it's so hard!!

You gotta sit still to study 5+ hours, speaking as a person who knows five hours a day studying isn't enough.
Thanks again Doc. I needed this :)

Thanks Dr. Watkins, I'm a young(24) black engineer graduate. First thing i did after getting out of college was going to work in china for quite a bit to pay off all of my student loans. Now, i'm back in Canada with no debth to my name and quite a bit of savings focusing on the next step. (I'm a second generation kid from a ''struggling'' household and one of the next step consist of paying back my moms debts, she literraly broke herself in two to get me where I am today, and I respect her more everyday for it) I was a bit loss and getting back into bad habit before watching your videos. But your vid helped me see what i did well in the past and what I should be aiming for the future.

I was kicked out when I was a shy 19 year old black male, totally messed up my life so far. 26 no friends no love and a cannabis addiction. I'm going to keep going even though it's no longer worth it because the wealth equality.
RJsPrdctnx (3 years ago)
+chuck norris bro i smoke 6 fat joints a day, didn't say that to brag just to ask you not to say that because it makes it harder for legalization. aw yeah i am really successful
Mike Burton (3 years ago)
You can turn everything around. I built a great career for myself and have a lot of what I want with no money, no friends, and no degree. A book named "your success is your own damn fault" helped wake me up. Sometimes you have to even move to a new area to start fresh. Invest into yourself work hard and yes I smoke too, no excuses.
MaInfamous (3 years ago)
Great video as always ! I would like it if you can share with us a little more about your time management system you created when you were 18 and still use today to get your things done. Maybe a step by step kind of thing in another video.
Mark Saraceno (3 years ago)
How about the title.. how to reach your goals as a young white man. Blow it out ur ass.
+Mark Saraceno There is more white men with power than black men. Thus he is going to have sympathy for his own than her would non white people. White men can reach their goals much easier. Again there is more in power and few that try to take them out.

+Boyce Watkins  I'm a freshman computer engineering major right now, and I watch this video every time I take a break from homework.  I'm currently reading your first book about college and ordered the second one.  I must say you inspired me a young black man to hustle until I earn my masters degree in Engineering.  For that I thank you Dr. Watkins, I have much respect for you.

I schedule my day in advance but I never though about keeping track of the actual hours spent doing exactly what. Question. How would you recommend doing that & chasing your dreams while trying to build a family with kids. My lady wants time, kids require time, and after my 9-5 and a teaching a couple classes I prefer to come home and work more online to further progress toward my goals, but doing so takes time away from my lady and kids. If you could drop a few lines or a video response that would be GREAT. I'm going to watch all of your videos! Thanks!

Great video dr Boyce Watkins. One question I would like to ask you , what kind of job you had when you was in college? Did you work full time and be able to attend college full time? Us being blackmen nobody is going to give us money like blackwoman have so many avenues to run to? How do you feel about college debt?
lugiman11221122 (4 years ago)
